Where does the revenue from golf (men’s and women’s) come from? It is basically a non spectator sport with no Ad revenue either. No gate, no concessions, no ad revenue. Maybe brand sponsorship for wearing their brand? Donations specifically to the golf program?

Just don’t see how they out revenue even gymnastics.

Was wondering the exact same thing.

Justin Thomas probably donated half of Alabama men’s golf “revenue.” I know in December he contributed $1 million to the program and the Crimson Reserve practice facility.

Outside of Arkansas, State, Ole Miss, LSU and I think South Carolina I don’t think any SEC program makes money on baseball

I don't think any of us do anymore. LSU used to. It's not a huge loss like the women's sports but they did not make a profit last year.

Best I can see, it's mostly from hosting camps and clinics.

Title IX and the need to fund women’s athletics on a comparative level as men’s is the WORST financial business decision in history.

Well its not a "business" decision unless you want to punish Mens sports and not fund them as well but for football. Title IX is pure charity by law, pure and simple.

With players now basically employees, Title IX should no longer apply

Yikes. Swimming and Diving kids at every school better be graduating at a 100% rate and thanking every athletic department employee they come across.

Same with T&F. Our T&F, combined between mens and womens, brought in a grand total of $44k in total revenue and had almost $7 million in expenses. They have travel costs comparable to baseball/basketball and scholarship money only second to football at 1.75 million. It's insane what a suck those teams are on an athletic department

Both my girls are swimmers. Its an expensive sport at the collegiate level. Keeping an Olympic size pool (at some places 2 of them) properly maintained is hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.

Thats before you've given any scholarships, traveled, ate a meal, etc.

A lot of these teams get treated like kings and queens despite not making money. I saw Oregon volleyball went on a Croatia trip over the summer. Totally paid for by the school I assume

It's not a business decision but a decision made to give everyone opportunity to learn and develop. This is our education system, not intended to be money making.

Football just became popular and made some money. That is a side benefit but profitability is not a school's purpose. Education first and why not give women a chance to be educated and have opportunities.

If sports are good for development then we should offer them to everyone to create a better society, not to make $$$ or win games.

Eventually there will be Football/Basketball litigation as players protest the money going any program that does not pay its own way. Who cares how the tennis team is doing, etc.

Then sports should be removed from the school and just be another pro league. Stand alone away from the school and see how well that works for them because schools are there to educate not be in the sports industry.

That rowing number ($3.5 million) has to be a one off deal. Zero chance we’re spending that every year. I think we recently redid the boathouse so that must be it.

All men's sports (except MBB and fball) LOSE money every year.

The ONLY reason we have any sports at SEC schools is because football and MBB have huge media contracts that generate revenue.

I doubt it's all from merch, either.

If the men’s golf team gets a cut of every piece of golf apparel or equipment that’s officially licensed, it could easily be from merchandise.

How much “golf” apparel and equipment with the UF logo is sold every year?

ETA: Old man Bill Battle was the pioneer of the “Collegiate license” game. He was really tight with Roy Kramer.
