Alabama HC: Tide players were paid $3M last year but other schools are buying players.

Here we go with this again

Aggies can't seem to grasp the simple concept of existing players receiving NIL money vs enticing recruits with NIL money.

I pray that someday, the 39ers will understand it.

You misspelled Aggy. Be sure to use a y. That really gets them.

So existing players can get paid but new players cannot? Please explain more. Thank you in advance.

That was 100% the intent of NIL. Players that play and produce get rewarded for on the field success.

Ok: Name, image or likeness endorsement deals
Not ok: Payments made to players contingent on school choice

You are breaking the rules. If you get in trouble don’t come complaining to us and stop acting confused as to why people are calling you out.

You can't offer a kid a ready-made deal to get them to go to your school. It's not that difficult to grasp, unless you're from Texas I guess.

A Wall Street Journal reporter just asked the Alabama head coach why he was against the NIL. The coach said he wasn't. In fact his players pulled in $3M last year. Why is it bad for other schools to us NIL's while some schools cannot?

This is an honest question.

You are confused. Laws trump “NCAA rules”. Laws in Texas state that any player can get paid by anyone as long as it’s not the school.

The NCAA can’t require a school to enforce “rules” that break laws.

This is the crux of the issue. Many states have very different laws regarding this and we very much need federal legislation here.

But when that happens, it still will always favor the players, not equity among schools.

Bottom line. The way it was is over. And we aren’t going back. It’s not legal to do so.

But you are right. “it’s against the rules”. The issue is “the rules” are legally not enforceable.

You are sorely mistaken.

It isn't against the law to smoke weed in some states but the NCAA absolutely can suspend players for doing so, even though it isn't against the law.

It cracks me up that you Aggies constantly try to defend what A&M is doing with NIL but when it comes down to it, none of you even know what NIL is or how it works.

As this thread has proven.

Somebody doesn't understand the rules.

That is like saying the since person A stole a million dollars and person B earned a million dollars, it means that person B must have stolen a million dollars.

You can down vote all you want. What I said is completely true. I don’t like it. And I think it sucks.
But it’s true.

You have chosen to be members of the NCAA.

It might be legal in Texas to pee off your deck, but if you do it at the country club don’t be surprised when there are consequences.

Aggies don't understand this.

Just like how they don't understand that what their coach said on camera is an NCAA violation by the letter of the law.

Translation: LSU has no issues with paying players. But they can't pay as much as others and it is not fair.
