Not anywhere close to the same thing.

Those are only 1 year contracts for current Red Raiders.

No type of enticement for future recruits.

You can not seem to grasp the fact that the NCAA absolutely holds the school/program responsible for the action of its boosters, whether the school is involved or not, whether the school even knows about it or not.

And you seem to miss the fact that SCOTUS recently ruled that a player has the right to be paid by ANY corporation they wish to be paid by. Period.

No mater what the NCAA says their rules are. No matter who owns the company.
No matter what.

SCOTUS said the player can be paid by anyone.

I don’t like it. But it’s the law until we have a better one that makes sense.

This has already been argued by the NCAA in front of SCOTUS. And the NCAA lost. Look it up.

That isn't true at all, the SCOTUS ruled that the NCAA couldn't regulate education related benefits.

That's it.

You keep saying this and it's no more true now than when you first said it.

I invite you to link evidence that corroborates your statement.

I hope not. That would be against the rules.

Read the opinion man. Not just the ruling. Read the entire opinion.

Especially this part…

Justice Brett Kavanaugh signaled where Monday’s decision may lead. He said there are “serious questions” about whether the NCAA’s other restrictions on compensating athletes can stand. Kavanaugh wrote that “traditions alone cannot justify the NCAA’s decision to build a massive money-raising enterprise on the backs of student athletes who are not fairly compensated.”

“Nowhere else in America can businesses get away with agreeing not to pay their workers a fair market rate on the theory that their product is defined by not paying their workers a fair market rate. … The NCAA is not above the law,” wrote Kavanaugh, who as a college student played on Yale’s junior varsity basketball team.

This doesn’t sound like a court that will side with anyone but the players. These are the exact words of one of the Justices.

If this is the opinion of the court then what I am saying about the possibility of the NCAA losing in federal court is 100 percent true.

These are his exact words. Justice Kavanaugh played basketball at Yale and is a college athlete. I think his opinion would carry weight here among other justices.

And his opinion and his words are why where we are now.

So you wanted me to link evidence. Here it is.

That isn't what you said though, you said the SCOTUS had already ruled on it and are now posting opinions as evidence of that statement:

quote:

This is frankly, not true.

Not to mention that you're taking the opinion of one justice as the opinion of the entire court.

Your arguments have some massive holes in them as well as various false statements.

What? Y’all want to dispute that Kavanaugh said this? Actually wrote it? In his opinion?

The same opinion every other lower court will read before making a ruling?

He calls for legislation and he specifically said the NCAA isn’t above the law and cannot define market rates for players.

He stated this. In writing.

So please, educate yourself.

Why are you trying to pass off the opinion of one justice as a ruling of the Supreme Court?

He said they cannot set market rates for players.

Yes, he said this. This means they can be paid by anyone and by any amount.

It’s possible you are right. I believe the sentiment of the court was similar to his opinion. His opinion was highlighted by the article not me. And it was due to the fact that he was an athlete with perspective.

You asked me to post where I am serving this belief. It is founded in actual research.

Now, you can spin it differently if you choose. A court will do the same.
But I believe there’s significant evidence to believe the NCAA will lose this case if it ever occurred.

I have shown it to you. You can disagree if you wish.

But I am not “making it up”.

You're confused.

I didn't ask you to give evidence for your opinion, I asked for evidence of this:

quote:

And you seem to miss the fact that SCOTUS recently ruled that a player has the right to be paid by ANY corporation they wish to be paid by. Period.

You absolutely made that entire statement up, there has been no such ruling.

I don’t understand you people. You down vote and say I need to link evidence of why I believe what I said. Then I do that and you down vote that the evidence actually supports my hypothesis.

Y’all crazy.

Ahhh, okay. Yes. There is no such ruling. However, within a separate but related ruling the justices stated opinions that would be relevant as supporting opinion in such a case.

That’s my point. His words will be used and read by other judges in regards to this eventual case.

I’m trying to show you what the sentiment of the court is regarding this matter.

The NCAA may win. But given what has been stated in other relevant cases I would put their odds at winning very low.

That’s my point. And you can obtusely argue with me if you want. But if you rationally think through what the courts sentiment is in our nation and read theses opinions and thoughts of judges about the NCAA, I don’t see how you can rationally believe they will win.
