By that logic, Alabama is one pick-six away from having back-to-back titles going into 2022.

You were losing when that occurred…

Everyone knows, even Gumps, that Kirby made Saban and not the other way around. Although the Gumps will never admit it, they know.

Not a good comparison buddy

I mean, we could play this game all day.

Alabama was one missed field goal away from losing in 2009.

Georgia was one missed field goal away from losing in the first round this year.

They're also a fourth-down conversion from losing to Missouri.

If we're going to say "Georgia almost did this," then we have to consider that "Georgia also almost did that," right?

Of course. I don’t disagree at all. But your example was a play that dropped Bama’s win probability from like 7% to 0%.

Of course, it's as ridiculous as saying Georgia was one play away from winning three.

Without a missed FG by Alabama in regulation, 2nd and 26 doesn't even happen.

I'm not trying to make excuses, just pointing out that hypotheticals always go both ways.

your example

Fair enough. It was a bad example in that case.

Pruitt was a better DC. He just wasn't around near as long as Smart.

edit to note Smart still has the same difficulty with prolific passing teams as he did at Alabama. Examples are Alabama beating them last year in the SEC title game before losing both wide receivers, and UGA was very lucky to win the game vs Ohio State this year because they could not stop OSU passing game.

Alabama has played in 5 national championship games since bowl cut left. Georgia is 1-4 vs Bama since Kirby has been there. Nice try though.

Saban - 2 national titles in 7 years without Kirby

Kirby - 0 national titles in 5 years without Monken

You better make sure Monken never even thinks about leaving Athens, I guess.

Post like this prove that the "Georgia has taken over the top spot" talk is pure BS.

You clowns just won back to back and you still want to compare everything you do to Alabama

Proving that the STANDARD and measuring stick for all college teams resides in Tuscaloosa Alabama!

Just imagine if Bama had Hurts, Tua, or Mac with 5-6 years of college football experience.

he gotta beat bama three times in a row to get to .500 that's pretty rough

All kidding aside

Kirby was the big guy in Early Bama Dynasty when we just boa constrictor'd people to death and relied on the defense

the second half of Alabama's dynasty has been all offense heavy teams

it's actually pretty wild seeing the different styles

Two games of hearing a bunch of whining, pacifier-sucking fans making lame excuses about injuries from wondering why a bunch of butthurt crybabies can't swallow the fact that both teams had injuries and it had nothing to do to change the outcome, because championship teams have the depth and the strength to play through them and win anyway, while loser teams fold and go home with an 'L' on their record instead of a 'W' or a championship.

Be honest: how many NCs would Kirby have if he had never worked for Saban?

Yes, Kirby Smart taught Nick Saban everything about running a championship program.
