LINK - it's brutal
quote:

Too many people were looking ahead to what’s next. That’s what Nick Saban said on Wednesday at SEC Media Days. That was his roundabout explanation for Alabama’s shocking, 28-point loss to Clemson in the national championship. It wasn’t Clemson. It was Alabama.

- Alabama didn’t prepare for the game properly.

- The offensive coordinator had already checked out, and so had the defensive backs. There were too many people thinking about themselves, and not about the team.

- There wasn’t a commitment to “the process.”

- The “Alabama Factor” didn’t make the trip to Northern California.

quote:

Hopefully Saban doesn’t actually believe that nonsense. No one works harder inside Alabama’s building than those players. There weren’t any leaders last year, in other words. Excuse me, but was Jalen Hurts a figment of my imagination last year?

Dylan Moses, a returning linebacker, went so far as to say on Wednesday that Georgia was the toughest team Alabama faced last season, and not Clemson. Stop it, Dylan. Just stop. Enough.

Are Saban and his players arrogant or just delusional? Whatever they are, they’re not ready to start this season. Not yet.

Before this preseason begins, before anyone reports to fall camp, before the first whistle is blown, Alabama needs a cold, hard slap in the face. A reality check. A come to Jesus.

Repeat after me, Alabama. Say it really slowly so it sticks.

- Clemson. Was. Better.
- Clemson is still better.
- Clemson is the new superpower in college football.

Like that clueless attempt at a fake field goal in the second half of the national championship, Alabama apparently can’t see what everyone in the world already knows. The San Jose Smackdown was the coronation of a new king.

Don’t let the bright lights of SEC Media Days fool you, Dylan Moses. You’re not that good.

quote:

Alabama returns a quarterback who can’t stay healthy, and some defenders who allowed 44 points in their last game. That’s reality.

Tua is a great quarterback. He might even be the best quarterback in the history of Alabama football. Is he even half as good as Trevor Lawrence, though?

Alabama didn’t score a single point in the second half of the College Football Playoff national championship. We thought it was the best offense in the history of Alabama football. That’s how good Clemson was.

Saban’s big message at SEC Media Days? He wants Tua to be smarter in the pocket, and he wants his assistant coaches to be better prepared for the second half of the season.

How about start with this, and accept the cold hard truth. Dabo Swinney is just a better coach right now.

Sheesh...

Lost 44-16. I don’t think the “we beat ourselves” excuse works in this scenario.

It was a total arse whipping.

At least they scored.

What would 29-0 be called?

A consolation prize.

Just one year before Clemson couldn't even score a touchdown against Alabama. One game doesn't stop a dynasty as we have seen over and over during Saban's run no matter how much these fools want it.

Ohio State ended it, we saw how that worked out. Clemson supposedly ended it a time or two, and it was avenged. This will be too. Auburn ended it, and they got to celebrate for all of two weeks LOL.

The LAST team Clemson wants to see in the playoffs this year is Alabama. Jesus help them if it happens again. They won't be able to play that lack of respect card. The targets going to be on their backs.

Clemson has a massive advantage no matter who they face. After the Aggy game they have a easy path and come November they can practically start getting ready.

Joseph Goodman is a Scarbinsky wannabe.

He said/wrote Alabama basketball would be better without Collin Sexton.

While I love to see Alabama get their come-uppance (especially "Midget, esq."), I don't always buy into score of a game as absolute truth. Sure Clemson won 44-16 and yes they are the champs. But was Alabama actually only 1/3 of what Clemson was last season? On the scoreboard sure and only for that game but does that mean Clemson would repeat the same thing today? I have my doubts. Clemson gets the benefit of playing in the ACC. They struggled with Syracuse of all teams. Does that mean Clemson is only a better than Syracuse? WT I get it that you are Bama obsessed and love to troll their fanbase (I enjoy reading those at times, I have to admit) but I can only believe AL.com is hoping to wake up their darling team. Saban doesn't need it really. I'm hoping their "dynasty" is finished but we'll see.

Scarbinsky left a year or so ago. He's with Gene Hallman and the Bruno's Event Team. This guy is Joseph Goodman, who has been trying to pump this Birmingham "Legion" minor league soccer team.

This guy really doesn't like anyone too much. I'd pile on him more but his son--about 22,23 died a few months ago.

His shtick is so transparent. That Collin Sexton piece is quite possibly the most hilariously awful #hottake piece I've ever read.

I love it and any other articles like it. The opposite of rat poison.

The one year NC drought and more media declaring them dead and gone is nice motivation.

I think Goodman is a very solid writer when it comes to in state sports.

I’ve read a lot of his articles and he seems to not care what others think and calls it like he sees it. Though I’m sure he rubs a lot of people the wrong way.

Their sports department virtually has no rudder now. They hardly even try anymore with their print edition. How hard would it be to put the Southern League standings in your paper with the Barons having a good team for a change.

We all know the OP's angle, but turn the page and don't get too worked up over Mr Goodman.
