What was the bet? I've not heard where exactly the fix was in yet.

How many of their players are going to hit the transfer portal?

he also got tossed early in the lsu game saturday for a play that went to review and took it out on the home plate ump who said the pop up hit the backstop net. it was a dumb thing to argue/get tossed for.

If Jarvis doesn't go pro and hits the portal, let the bidding war begin and maybe even for Pinckney as well.

Any chance this could lead to the abolition of Alabama baseball? I’ve been in favor of abolition ever since I read in the Crimson White circa 2010 about the money the program loses.

I think this may do it. Byrne has been pelted with emails over the scholarship issue for years. His hands are tied because the lawmakers refuse to let us vote for a lottery but if that's the case just kill the program and bring it back if/when we get a lotto. These kids and Bama fans deserve better than to have to watch a program that is basically on sanctions every year. This may be his chance to jettison the program with good reason. I'm all for it as are lots of people.

If you had told me Lil Jim Jarvis would be a hot SEC transfer commodity back in 2020 I'd have thought you were high on crack. What a world.

Not sure why you keep saying this.

All NCAA schools are limited to the same number of scholarships.

Or just hire a good coach. Bohannon was way in over his head at an SEC school.

(a) He's not wrong about the in-state lottery schools having more ability to sign guys - especially ones with strong in-state talent. You don't have to allocate scholarships to kids who get lottery money and can then use that scholarship money elsewhere.

(b) It's a joke to use as some sort of crutch to be a good program because Auburn, Ole Miss and State have all performed very well the last 5 years and have the same lottery issues Alabama does. It's an excuse.

You have NIL to subsidize scholarships.

At what point does Greg Byrne start to take some heat (no pun intended)

Maybe Nick Saban already is reviewing AD candidates put forth by the Alabama Board of Trustees. Nick can’t be happy with basketball and baseball right now.

Agree, moving forward it should be much less of an issue.

Dude is having a hell of a year and lit the Hogs up. I'd love for the Hogs to add him, but I think Jarvis will likely go pro with this breakout year. He's gotta take advantage even if he is a senior.
