Once.

Congrats on the title. It doesn't make us equals.

You can thank Les Miles for this. Coach O knows what type of players and what type of offense it will take to stay on top. Not saying bama still wont get the best of LSU over the next few years under saban but i will tell you this it will be a lot more competitive going forward and LSU will grab some wins as well.

LSU is 10-11 vs A1abana
Speaking as an unbiased party, the real Bama vs LSU rivalry over the past 20 seasons looks like this:

Saban 14-5
Other LSU HCs 6-10
Other Bama HCs 1-6

ince the so-called "modern era" of college football began in 1980...

(Teams with multiple national championships)

Alabama: 6 national championships
Miami: 5 national championships
Clemson: 3 national championships
Florida State: 3 national championships
Florida: 3 national championships
LSU: 3 national championships
Nebraska: 3 national championships
Ohio State: 2 national championships
Oklahoma: 2 national championships
Penn State: 2 national championships

Those are good numbers. The Passing game really did not start to hit college football till about 1980, nation wide, some Pac 10 teams back then were the first to really open it up. Bill Walsh was at Stanford in the late 70's and was using a West Coast pass first type offense there. Bama, Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska were still running some form of the Wishbone and Veer option game as of 1980, OU with Switzer till he retired in late 80's and Nebraska well into the 90's with Osborne.

Very legit numbers. Top 10 programs last 40 years. Glad LSU is in that list and Bama being #1 in that list well deserved.

Why such an arbitrary time frame?

Why not stick to the 20 year span as designated by the OP? LSU has beaten bama 10 times in the past 20 years.

Or we can go all time which would be the best metric

Or you can stick to the thread parameters which clearly state "20 years".

Apparently games 9 years ago with a completely different staff and coaches count so let’s do since the turn of the century.

Since 2000

LSU is 10-11 vs A1abana

LSU has 3 national titles with 3 coaches
A1abana has 5 national titles with 1 coach

We also played each other for another in the same year that we beat you at your house. That game goes the other way and it’s 4 national titles to 4 national titles.

We’re the reigning king. The Geauxlden Era has just begun.

I love it when fans manipulate truth with stats.

Comparing victories for LSU from 2000 to 2007 and Alabama from 2008 to present is comical. That was Alabama's worst era of football since what? Ears Whitworth? Alabama was decimated by probation. Almost all the good programs in the SEC had their way with Alabama in that era. So, bravo.

From 2008 to present, this is LSU's greatest run in the history of the school. Right in the damn middle of it Alabama dominated you, beating you 8 times in a row, including three shutouts and a 21-0 monkey stomping in a National Championship. Stop comparing Alabama and LSU. It's really no comparison at all.

I will always respect Coach O for saying the truth after that 29-0 loss to Alabama. LSU just wasn’t as good, specifically on the two deep on the interior lines. No need for cliches, just say it. He knew he had work to do on the recruiting trail and he did it and continues to do it.

Absolutely, IF LSU didn’t choke that title away in their backyard they would have more titles and Bama would have less titles. Can’t imagine going through life with your pathetic “could have/should have” mindset.

Plus, unless it's a first coaching job or they're out of work, every coach is stolen from another team. Boo hoo

We stole him from Miami. Who stole him from LSU. Who stole him from michigan state.

The truly great people are obsessively this way. The difference between them and the also-ran’s is that they go out and work day and night to do something about it. To get better. Something which O has absolutely done during his tenure.

Speaking of cherry picking stats— What are you talking about ? 2008-2015 LSU was scrounging around in Les Miles later years of Consistently squandering talent and finishing with 2 to 3 losses every season (excluding the 2011 season of course where he insisted on keeping one of the worst QBs of all time on the last 2 months of the season and squandered one of the most talented teams of all-time)— during that period of time LSU won one SEC championship and managed to lose multiple times to bad Ole Miss and Arkansas teams they had no businesses getting beat by.

Also nobody is disagreeing that the Bama run during that same period is probably the best ten years of a CFB Dynasty and they didn’t just ruin LSU’s seasons most years they rarely lost to anybody.

But again the discussion on the thread wasn’t 2008-2015 and I know that makes you mad but it was the first 2 decades of the 2000’s— a nice reasonable metric right? It’s not our problem Bama was sucking in the early 2000’s that was the whole point of the thread consistency over the last 20 years. Now if you would like to start a thread about how Bama dominated LSU From 2008-2015 Then go ahead but I doubt many LSU fans will disagree with you or be upset. Hell, a good bit of LSU fans were already calling for Miles to be fired by 09-10 and then he had the good 2011 season but the call for him to be fired started back again by 13-14 season.

We literally fired the coach and hired one who just dropped a 46 spot in your crib and whipped your teams arse with your best WR core and best QB that’s ever played for your school.

You’re right. Ones a national champion and ones a citrus bowl champion who finished 3rd in the West.

Congrats on your run. It’s over.
