To be fair, wasn’t he at Alabama when the players were let off from the unregistered gun and drug possession charges because they “worked out in the sun all day and didn’t have AC like everyone else”?

Pretty sure several Bama players got arrested during Pruitt’s time in Tuscaloosa. Mac Jones got a DUI in 2017 when Pruitt was DC.

I'm guessing Pruitt was trying to say that in other places they'd co-operated and liaisoned with police and their players on small matters like this - unpaid parking ticket - to avoid letting those small situations turn into big situations that lead to warrants and arrests (which he was trying to explain he thought he'd already done but it sounds like the kid didn't follow through or whatever).

Clearly he's not saying they had an understanding about not arresting football players because all 3 of those schools had multiple kids arrested for silly things while he was in town.
I think his point was at UGA/Bama/FSU they didn't let stupid small things escalate to this level for silly reasons, though this was clearly the kids fault for not paying the ticket even after they met with the police about it.
Just frustrated I'd guess - not to mention he sounded like the call woke him up. Not exactly clicking on all cylinders mentally.

You can interpret Pruitt's words however you like. Cops in Athens have repeatedly proven they don't act that way. Richt was clearly frustrated, and was not getting any special handling from law enforcement to solve the problem. It happened again this spring, so I doubt that has significantly changed. Whatever Pruitt meant to say, to the extent he was talking about Athens GA, he was wrong.
