In all honesty i think a&m were a decent team with an experienced qb. There were really no teams that great except for bama and we will see how good ohio state is. No team really played the caliber of ball to make a playoff run except for bama in the sec. I thought Florida was the second best team and georgia 3rd aggies 4th.

Good solid, not great, team. Gaping hole at QB with Mond, I think they probably overperformed based on having him (in a regular season he probably would have cost them at least one game).

The truth is probably somewhere in the middle a bit more to the "really good team" side.

COVID affected everyone but A&M returned a lot of players and the same coordinators on both sides. Irregular practice schedules probably took a bigger hit on teams implementing new systems. Other than Bama pretty much every other team in the West was in a lot of transition, some completely new staffs, systems and/or lots of fresh faces. Opt outs also threw a curve we hope doesn’t repeat as much in the future.

They improved during the year and rounded into a very good team with solid lines, so you can't attribute that to just pure luck. Give them some credit.

I love threads like this, LSU fans scurry in to tell everyone how unconcerned with A&M they are.

It certainly wasn't the toughest SEC West slate that Jimbo will face in his tenure there.

But, it's not like it's their fault that so many teams they played uncharacteristically sucked this year. They also beat a lot of those teams like they were supposed to: in dominating fashion. After Florida I don't think any game was ever in doubt in the 4th quarter.

Beating a depleted UNC after Notre Dame had already smoked them on the road, fairing worse against Bama than ND did, and Ohio State throttling Clemson all worked against their credibility that they were wrongfully left out, though.

In 2020, you really needed to win the SEC to get considered. Sorry.

Beatdown by Bama

Beat 4 loss Florida by 3 points

Beat State who has a first year head coach

Beat Arkansas who has a first year head coach

Beat South Carolina who was so bad that they fired their head coach midseason

Beat historically bad LSU who got rid of most of their staff. Only scored 13 on one of the worst defenses in the nation.

Beat Auburn who also fired their head coach.

Beat 3 win Tennessee who may also fire their head coach.

Beat a North Carolina team who had most of their top players out and who finished 4th in a conference that didn't win a single bowl game.

I don’t disagree, but like 70% of those could also describe Bama

As a Bama fan, they remind me a lot of 2008 Alabama. They can run and stop the run and have a veteran quarterback. This means they can probably beat all but maybe 6-10 teams in the nation pretty consistently. They don’t want any part of the top 3 teams this year. Frankly, Notre Dame and Texas A&M are very similar. The difference is Aggy’s WRs do have some athletic ability but they have stumps for hands. So it may be a draw. Seeing how well Cincy did against UGA’s run offense, Aggy would probably get taken to the wire if not lose to them too.

Hell, I’m going to go out on a limb: if Cincy played TAMU in the Peach Bowl, Cincy would’ve won because Mond and the Aggy WR corp could’ve not made enough plays to win like UGA’s QB and WR corp did.

Georgie can’t run this year. We would have. We don’t get them as many possessions. They don’t get to have the ball 30+ min.

We also rarely turn the ball over. Georgia coughed it up twice.

Cincy wouldn’t have lasted in the trenches for 4 quarters. No way. No how. We’re a terrible match up for them.
