I'm a man of the people and can't decide really whether or not A&M was just a great overlooked team this year or just a very lucky team who wasn't that good.

So ...

Upvote for A&M because they were just very lucky with their schedule and probably lucky against Florida (who had a bad day) and were damn lucky to get #5.

or

Downvote for A&M because they got robbed and overlooked because they're a really great team.

You decide.

Struggled with Vandy who fired their head coach midseason, won by 5

Beatdown by Bama

Beat 4 loss Florida by 3 points

Beat State who has a first year head coach

Beat Arkansas who has a first year head coach

Beat South Carolina who was so bad that they fired their head coach midseason

Beat historically bad LSU who got rid of most of their staff. Only scored 13 on one of the worst defenses in the nation.

Beat Auburn who also fired their head coach.

Beat 3 win Tennessee who may also fire their head coach.

Beat a North Carolina team who had most of their top players out and who finished 4th in a conference that didn't win a single bowl game.

Some of both- I think their line talent this year was incredible, and they were able to control the games against lesser talented teams. They’re another ND this year basically.

That being said, they’re squeezing every drop of blood out of this turnip of a season. A bowl win against a depleted NC team is a stretch to say the least.

Jimbo does have recruiting rolling so that’s concerning.

Totally this. They only had to play 9 SEC games this year, which made a one loss season much easier. Also, they barely won a lot in that 7 game double digit win streak. Lucky! And they were totally luck against UF, who was missing all those players - A&M managed only 10 more first downs and 150 more yards than UF, and they still won!

All of us here on the rant can see the truth. aggy b lucky!

Jimbo is a little more modern Les Miles.

Recruits really well and will out talent the little guys but his offensive scheme isn't good enough to beat the great teams.

He was recruiting top 5 at Florida State pretty consistently but never made the playoff again after getting arse blasted by Oregon in 2015.

Coincidentally, thats about the time that most teams started getting really dynamic on offense.

Do you mean the staff that bailed before the season or the staff you had to pay millions after the season to fire?

A very good team who was also fortunate. They should've been the 4th team in but they would have lost about like ND.

The one team who may have made some noise in the playoff is Oklahoma....I think they would curb stomp ND and Clemson and play Bama pretty close...and who the hell knows about Ohio State who is still in October as far as games played....

I love to bash UF for their season ending debacle but anyone who thinks any of that happens, given their performance against Bama in the SEC CG, in a normal season, is delusional. I think Florida also curb stomps ND and plays Clemson very close in a normal season.

Finally, UGA, without COVID and now transfer QB, is a completely different animal....

The ones we paid millions to fire.

I don't recall anyone "bailing," I believe they all received promotions because of their successes at LSU IIRC.

Seems like a lot of them left for any job they could land. Must not like working for a caveman with anger management issues.

9-1 with an all-SEC schedule. What part of seeing is not believing here?

Like I said, I believe they all left for significant promotions based on their successes at LSU.

They were undoubtedly a good team but is undeniable that with AU and LSU's collapse this season the SEC West was as weak as its been in years.

So the answer is probably both.

In my opinion, I would say they've had a really good year and deserve credit. They beat a really good UF team that was at full strength on offense. That said, I'm not sure if they are the fourth best team.
