We call the sooners land thieves because of the history of the state. Its not an insult. Its like calling you a coon arse. Do you take offense to that? I bet you dont. They call us sheep frickers. True Story. Five weeks ago, I had to replace the backyard's stockade fencing. The neighbors weren't pitching in, so I specifically requested the contractor attach the panels on the neighbors' side of the posts - resulting in my backyard gaining an estimated 24 square feet.

Seems Georgia is the biggest land thieves... the Cherokee were there first.. driven out into Oklahoma.... Trail of Tears....
...Interestingly, the Cherokee Tribe were the biggest slave owners.. their "Trail of Tears' littered with the bodies of the black slaves they owned.. who carried their baggage on that, "Trail of Tears" from Georgia to Oklahoma.
Most of the Cherokee allied/fought with the south here in Oklahoma in the civil war. As did we all.
After the defeat by the Northern aggressors, the Cherokee signed a new treaty.. with the USA.. after violating the first.
Anyway's, that treaty said the Cherokee would take in their former black slaves as 'Freedman". Equal in the tribe.
The Cherokee violated that treaty in in the early 2010's

Most people don’t get that the OU/Texas thing is totally different than the A&M/OU dynamic. We’re not pals, but it’s not like Aggies are just lining up to talk shite to OU for no reason. Johnny kind of took care of that on the field.
OU has a good team this year. So now there is a new opportunity to see it unfold on the field.

Just to clarify... Even before the war... the Cherokee were split into two factions... The old settlers (who came to Arkansas in the 1820s and later to Oklahoma) and the later group headed by John Ross... the group that travelled the Trail of Tears in the 1830s.
The Old Settlers were solidly confederate while the John Ross Group basically switched sides to the Union during the way.
After the war... the old settlers and the Ross faction continued to fight. To this day they are split. The Old Settlers basically became the Keetowah Tribe of Cherokee and the John Ross group the Cherokee Nation.
Also, Sam Houston... on his way to Texas tried to convince John Ross to come to Texas and establish an Indian Nation in Texas. Some of them actually went... and there is actually some Cherokee history in Texas. Main story is them doing a revenge massacre on the Waco.

A history lesson on OU sports. “ We cheated our arses off to prominence, now we are successful built on that cheating foundation” ONLY way you get recruits to voluntarily live in Norman for 4 years of their life. One of the many universities that invented paying players before paying players was legal. The denial is real.
