Your theory was that someone was going to invest $100 million in return for around $350k per year.

No, it wasn't. I literally posted it doesn't make sense for either side so there have to be details missing.

To me, it makes more sense to invest private donations through TAF vs media revenue, as those are likely less regulated. The donors also get more bang for their buck, your $1M is invested in perpetuity vs just buying a receiver for a year.

But I can also state that PE getting involved in college football is not good.

So now this IS a private equity deal.

I have no clue, I'm trying not to jump to conclusions like the rest of you.

Yeah, Sidewalk, as we all knew, thanks for confirming: you’re full of shite.

And you’re stupid, as you go around disagreeing with things you have only a shadow of conceptual understanding of:

• FACT: Folks in charge at LSU to date have been deceptive about the nature and objectives of this deal, comparing their prior comments with what is now being widely reported as the terms of the proposed deal. Review the record of comments made with what’s being reported now across multiple updates

• FACT: LSU is seeking to financially monetize its CFB asset. Not sure how this can be more clear, reading the reported terms of the proposed deal

• FACT: The reported “partner” in this deal is not “private equity”. It’s an individual. Of an insurance and lending platform. Again, unequivocal based on the identified party in reports

• FACT: This proposed structure is a mortgage financing. The principal is $100mm. The interest is paid annually as a percentage of profits. The lien is the media rights, conveyed through a percentage of equity of the entity that holds the assets. Literally the definition of a mortgage

Okay, then maybe say, I don’t know if this is a good deal or bad deal. Then we can defer to people with business backgrounds to let us know the pros and cons of how possible future deals could look in college football using LSU as our sample. Maybe it’s free money and everyone will start selling, even if we are profitable programs and in the green (including NIL spending). Maybe it’s not a good idea of our specific schools. Maybe only blueblooods should do it. Maybe only small schools to keep up. It’s a discussion.

Not fact, there's no evidence that anyone has been deceptive about anything. You're welcome to present an argument to the contrary, but we both know you can't.

Not entirely fact, as you said, it's a proposed deal, the legality of which is unknown. This may literally never happen. If it were to happen, I would agree with you that they are monetizing the asset.

Not fact, we don't know who the mystery investor is, only a rumor.

Not fact, there are no concrete terms, this is all speculation and rumors. You have zero idea what's actually going on here, neither do I.

We've reached the root of the problem. You're making multiple assumptions and claiming they're facts.

There aren't enough facts for anyone to know if it's a good or bad deal, this is all speculation and rumors.

You don't seem to understand the differences between facts and assumptions.

You keep saying LSU officials have been dishonest and misleading. Who? What did they say? I don't even know of any LSU officials that have talked on the record about any of this.

What’s the point of this thread then? You said something about moving goal posts and not private equity.

Is this not a discussion about the deal? Is the whole point of this thread to make sure the words ‘private equity’ are not used? You said we don’t have enough info to know if it is or isn’t.

it’s because I’m right, they’re stupid, and they’re cowards that run away.

Bystanders like you always love to cast labels, but the winners write the history. And I’m right on this topic. Full stop across the board.

Thanks for all the upvotes

LSU found a way for the eventual firing of Lane Kiffin to be even more dramatic and financially disastrous.
It's like a child making the wrong decision and saying "I'll just let future LSU worry about my present decisions that will bring financial ruin."

I'll remind people, a few short years ago some students started a Go Gund Me to fix an LSU library roof. LSU doesn't have the money to begin with, so squandering away future earnings to loan sharks is in their wheel house.

Wait, are you bragging among the details in the OP? Which part is a relief to you? You actually have no idea what the adults are taking about and you just wait for someone to tell you how to feel, correct?

not sure why anyone gives two shits about any of this. the school will continue to receive enough funds from donors and media deals to do whatever they need to do to keep up with most of the conference like always and nobody on this board has enough money to ever be involved in anything remotely similar to this.

its not really relevant to any of our lives and yall made 6 pages so far. this board derives way too much pleasure from being right about something or seeing someone else be wrong. stick to talking about the sports and not the other bullshite

Under your math, this companies only profit would be $5.6 million. The PE's 7% would be $395k.

So you actually think a PE company is investing $100 million with a break even of 253 years?

It's much worse than your math example above. If the PE firm took their $100 million and just invested in a secure investment at 4% they'd receive 4 million bucks per year instead of $395K with no risk. I think we're all missing something, I know I am.

This is the company considered to be involved. Insurance companies have many ways to make money and almost guaranteed to never go broke unless some shenanigans are involved. I suspect that they are teating this as they would some type of annuity.

Acrisure is an American financial technology and insurance company headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The company was initially created to acquire insurance companies in the Midwestern United States and has since expanded nationally. In 2022, Business Insurance recognized Acrisure as the 6th largest insurance broker in the world

If that were the case there would be no need for this. Ausberry would not have warned fans that LSU faces a $25-35 million dollar deficit this year. Ausberry would never have mentioned outside funding, include private equity. Your own athletic director stated there are not enough donations and TV revenue to cover LSU’s expenses this year.

No. I am simply parroting the phrases of the Ole Miss Bama poster that said this 30 minutes after the headline…..whether that 10% is fact or not.

The joke is that you’ll hear LSU news here, thirty minutes after any Twitter rumor comes out. THEY actually had no idea and just blurted out a number and a celebration. Almost as if THEY were wanting someone to tell them how they feel.
