So $100M for a one time payment, which will probably be under $10M?

I don't know what this means.

The investor would receive 7% of the profits in perpetuity, I would assume.

It only works if the investments are handled appropriately. I'd love to know what they actually plan to invest in. I would assume Holden Spaht would have some say in that.

Wait, you don't think the annual TV payout is going to be considered part of the "profit" this holding company makes?

Average SEC media payout last year was $72.4 mil. Average PE return is approx. 7.8%.

Under your math, this companies only profit would be $5.6 million. The PE's 7% would be $395k.

So you actually think a PE company is investing $100 million with a break even of 253 years?

Wait this is legal?

I would think in most states it is not legal to move publicly owned funds directly to a privately owned company simply at the whim of the governor, university president, and an outside investor. But who knows in Louisiana.

If it does happen and they dump investor funds, TV revenues, and investment earnings into one big bowl and mix it well it will be a wet dream for corruption.

There is no way the CEO of Acrisure - a global investment, cybersecurity, payroll, employment benefit and corporate insurance company - would have committed $100 million unless he thought it was a very favorable deal for him.

Maybe LSU can take out insurance on their investment through Acrisure.

Acrisure has revenues of $5+ billion a year. The Pittsburgh Steelers play in Acrisure Stadium. There is an Acrisure Arena in Palm Springs, CA, and an Acrisure Amphitheator in Grand Rapids, MI. Coming soon will likely be Acrisure Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, LA - they don’t want people to confuse it with the Steeler’s stadium.

It'd kind of defeat the whole purpose of "housing" revenue to generate income, if you're just paying it out annually, or whatever.

I would guess it's so the money can be invested in ways it could not be as true state funds sitting with LSU directly.

But the math in no way makes sense of the annual media payout isn't considered profit for the HoldCo.

It really doesn't make sense for either side, either way. There have to be some details missing.

To me, it makes more sense to invest private donations through TAF vs media revenue, as those are likely less regulated. The donors also get more bang for their buck, your $1M is invested in perpetuity vs just buying a receiver for a year.

I think it's interesting that the article assumes he is the investor.

From what I understand, he was a speaker at the event so it would seem much more likely that Acrisure is involved with the actual management of the plan vs him being personally invested. But I wasn't there, so who knows?

Sounds like a really great way for your school to get screwed. PE is infested with barely legal swindlers.

This new company will generate a profit through two avenues - returns on their investments + TV revenue. Assuming a 5% return on the $100 million dollar investment and similar TV revenues as 24/25; the company will show $77 million in profit - $5 million on their return plus $72 million in TV revenue.

Below is from your very first post. If your post is correct it absolutely will pay him a percentage of future TV revenues because - guess what - TV revenues will be the major avenue the company will generate a profit. So yes, he will get a share of future TV profits. Your own post says so.

quote:

Williams would then receive seven percent of any profits the business generates.

Per the deal you posted and based on the numbers in your post Greg Williams will receive a 7% share of $77 million next year - $5.4 million. That would be marginally more than the investment return. So yeah, he will get a cut of TV revenues.

Do you really believe all the bullshite you post, or do you post all this bullshite just to get replies?

So you think LSU is selling shares of future TV revenue to outside private investors AND is going to let an outside corporation manage it?

It just keeps sounding worse.

Not even I hate LSU enough to hope they do this.

I want to get another LSU fans explanation bc Sidewalk’s explanation is based on a lot of hypotheticals off this article, where we have to make big leaps based on his biased opinion to make this look like a good deal.

So you believe LSU is entering in an agreement that actually pays them less annually than they'd have if they just retained their TV revenue?

How does that make sense?

1. It's all hypotheticals because no one knows what the actual agreement is

2. I have no clue if it's a good deal, a lot of that will depend on how well the investments are managed

3. There are details about this that don't make sense so I believe there is some information missing

In captdalton's scenario, they can't touch the $100M.

So they just receive less of their TV revenue every year with no unfront cash.

I certainly don’t have as much as I would like. But at least I am not having to sell off part of my business to a private equity investor in order to remain afloat.

So they are just going to take the $100 million and spend it? You have made multiple posts saying they will invest it.

Now they are just gonna take the money to the strip club and not even hit the casino.

With every post you make this sound like more of a disaster for LSU.
