Meh California is overrated and overscouted this early on.

They have an insanely large population and that’s it. They aren’t a great football state.

recruiting for major football programs is national, and has been for years now. Whether it's Florida, Texas, California, Georgia, or Delaware, geography doesn't even matter anymore. With NIL it's going to matter even less.

As for states that produce the most talent, this graph is a couple years old but shows where NFL players came from

Rank State Players
1 Florida 193
2 California 187
3 Texas 160
4 Georgia 97
5 Ohio 80
6 Pennsylvania 66
7 Louisiana 63
8 Alabama 60
9 New Jersey 50

This sounds like wishful thinking because when USC is rolling they hold their own in LA. USC has 29 billionaires who are alums. They can issue all the NIL deals they want.

If they have so much money and are willing to spend it on football why do they still play in an off campus, city-owned, dump of a stadium?

That olympics construction always works out well for the cities that do it. Oh wait.

LOL. You can't get it to link because it's a downloaded file.

Do you know if recruits that end up at IMG count towards Florida’s numbers or the actual home state the recruit was from? Same for the school in CA, for the nane but starts with a M.

I have no idea but I'd guess that IMG players home state would be Florida since I assume the kid has to establish residence to play there but my assumption may be totally wrong.

There are three teams in LA in the following order:
1. Lakers
2. Dodgers
3. USC football

All the other teams are nice and draw a crowd, but those are the only teams that matter. Riley will have more NIL money than any other D1 team can imagine if he proves himself this season. USC has entire part of their business school that focuses on NIL type deals.

If USC wins 10+ wins, they will have the money to sign anyone recruit they want.

LA has shitty areas but to call it a shithole is incorrect. They have affluence, weather, social life etc going for them and with NIL I could see players wanting to play there

Well, the Coliseum just got over $300 million in renovations in the last 3-4 years. There are plenty of videos of the renovations on YouTube. Kids don't go to USC or Miami because of the facilities (even though both schools have upgraded their facilities). Some of you will never get that.

Allegedly he was a problem at OU.

When he starts winning CFP games, I'll be worried.

But, I do believe that if Riley and Grinch field a soft defense that won't go over well at USC. USC fans like defense and they have the talent in California to have top 10 nationally defenses on an annual basis.

LA is such a shite hole, zero chance Riley keeps them on the straight and narrow. Couple that with USC alum that think they live in their own country in CA, he's going to frick it up.

Why do so many good ol' boys on this board hate California? The very mention of the state seems to trigger you guys.

And I guess Caleb Williams finally has decided on USC.

It never hurts to start your coaching career at a school with a 5* talent at QB that you will have starting for you for the next 2 seasons that is already well versed in your offensive playbook.

I think USC wins at least ten games (or more) next season.

I know why players go to USC and Miami. The culture there will never be what it’s like it the SEC. The slogan “it just means more here” has a lot of truth to it. There’s a lot more to life than college football for USC alums and boosters.

The west coast has a good talent pool but they don’t have players in the trenches like we do in the south. Unless they can convince southern lineman to move out west they will have a bunch of 9-3 to 11-1 seasons with blowout losses in the playoffs to SEC teams. It’s happened since 2009 except for 1 Ohio State team.
