They said the same thing when he was at OU - never materialized

RIley will flame out in spectacular fashion.....he took OU from playoff team to third place in the Big 12 in 5 years ....I give him 4 years until he is tarred and feathered and ridden out of LA on a rail.....

Why do so many good ol' boys on this board hate California? The very mention of the state seems to trigger you guys.

Probably haven’t experienced it enough. The state has plenty of downsides like any other but net net a great place to live. The mass exodus and shite on the streets is grossly over exaggerated as is the softness on crime. It’s actually the city of SF that’s the worst offender

Clay Helton got 6 years. Why would Riley only get 4? I don't think anyone will be surprised when USC is a top 10 team every year from here on out.

This sounds like wishful thinking because when USC is rolling they hold their own in LA. USC has 29 billionaires who are alums. They can issue all the NIL deals they want.

Yep. And it's LA. It's Hollywood. Honestly it's football malpractice that they've only won one since the 70s.

I'm 18 and you tell me I can go get a Pepsi deal tomorrow worth $3m and be surrounded by aspiring models and actresses? Or I can go to ... Columbia, MO? Man, sorry but I'm in a Gucci suit on a plane in an hour.

NIL is going to change college football and I think the biggest way is power will shift to larger markets.

That's why I'm glad Athens in the best college town in America AND only an hour or so from the ATL.

I live 3 hours from SF and have visited 20+ times in my life for many occasions and varying lengths of time. Never once stepped over a human dookie in the street, yet everyone from the South that references the city assumes every corner looks like a third world country.

It's just strange the animosity people on this board have for the entire state. I don't get it.

Been watching Lincoln Riley up close for years due to a surfeit of Sooners in my family. His trajectory is decidedly negative. The peak of his achievement was with a Stoops assembled squad in his first year.

Kyler Murray bought him another year but they were beat soundly by Bama in the playoffs.

Not big in rivarly games despite having much better rosters on paper and facing crappy Texas and Okie State squads.

Sputtering, inconsistent offense that flashes unbelievable promise in some games and completely regressed in others.

Dropped early season games to mediocre opponents consistently.

While money is the primary reason he is leaving the Dust Bowl, he probably knew deep down his time in Norman was getting shorter.

I'm with you here.

Dude gets a lot of hype as some great offensive mind when a lot of times his offense struggles despite having the most talent in their conference.

Political BS that usually plays no role in daily life or forming of friendships and relationships. Blind hate mostly. I love California. Live an hour from SF

USC walked in the wilderness for a long time between the McKay/Robinson (first stint) years Pete Carroll, who at the time that he was hired was a head scratcher.

Riley excluded, why they have continuously reached on coaches is a mystery.

Riley has enough pop to recruit well for a couple of seasons. After that, if he isn't meeting expectations on the field they will be stuck in perpetual 8-5.

Stoops was the better coach. Oklahoma had some good defenses while he was in Norman.

Your little emoji is so appropriate. Pea green. Just like you. Athens is the best college town in the country. And it’s not just UGA fans who think so. Ranking polls and sports experts have said that for years. I’ve been to Tuscaloosa on many occasions and y’all have a long way to go.

Ya, the idea that a college football means jack shite to those kind of companies is absurd.

He had them all at OU before he ran away. The Riley model of recruiting 5 star QBs and WRs will continue at USC, and the cfp beat down will continue also. OU has had crazy talent on offense with Riley but they were soft at charmin

Agree.

For now,it looks like the schools benefiting the most from NIL have set up defacto slush funds with wealthy alumni under the guise of "charities" to funnel money to athletes.

Haven't seen much from big corporations getting involved at all.Pretty sure they don't wanna alienate their customer base.
