LSU is a demonstrably better program than Missouri, and it would make sense that Baker would want to come home. LSU has had more success since 2010 than Missouri has had in the entirety of the program history.

If he spurns LSU based on what happened 2 years ago, that is his prerogative, but to argue that LSU isn't a more prestigious job than Missouri is laughable.

He was a DC at LA Tech whole Joe Sloan was OC there, and he was a DC at Miami before LB at LSU.

And I don't think he hired on at Mizzou as DC. I think he got promoted.

I think women can be very emotional. I think some of them can make decisions based on emotion instead of a cost/benefit analysis. I don’t claim to know Blake Baker’s wife.. But I do know one woman who would absolutely be a vengeful creature if her dream was crushed because the employer of her husband; right after moving back home and thinking she was settled; got uprooted because of collateral damage because the new coach was cleaning house to hire his guys even though her husband was doing a good job. I know that the woman I know would be very hesitant to rush straight back to the place that had literally just ripped the rug out from under her family. That is what I think.

What do you think?

Plus BK will be fired after next year and she would have to root up the family yet again.

Well, he just signed a contract extension last week and is set to make $1.1 for 2023

Pretty sure it was $1.4 in the old contract.

Blake would be a solid pick up for LSU. Dude has been awesome for Mizzou. I just assumed his next stop would be HC.

The $1.1 was 2023. I don’t know what his raise amount was honestly.

Correct. Blake was originally hired as Safeties coach but promptly promoted to DC once Wilks moved on.

I hope he stays put since he’s young, personality seems to mesh well with the players, and overall development of guys has been phenomenal.

Plus he has a good feel for situations and game momentum and tends to call an aggressive style of defense.

Outside of the LSU game in which Daniels went cheat mode, his defense this year mostly improved as the season went on. Granted we had really good upperclassmen talent but he put them in place to succeed.

Points allowed per game - season avg.
2020: 32 (Walters)
2021: 34 (Wilks)
2022: 25 (Baker)
2023: 21 (Baker)

Really hope we retain him.

It’s hard to know what people value, but I would imagine the DC position at Mizzou is a much more stable job than the LSU job (House was hired in 2022, after all).

The LSU job has a higher ceiling, especially in the long-term.

I don’t think there would be much of a difference in compensation.

So you think she would torpedo an opportunity for her husband to advance his career out of spite?

Sorry about the OT loss. I know the decline hurts.

You could be right. But what I read was $1.1 for 2023 plus a guaranteed $100k additional per year through 2026. Which would have him making $1.4 in 2026.

But again, that was the OLD contract.

LSU players loved him. I wish we had kept him.

Well, that tends to happen when you have to play the best offense in the country.

Are you married Wade? What do you think your wife would think if you were fired because of a management change and you all had to move to another state immediately? Do you think she would want you to take a job two years later with your former employer to relocate back there? Honest question.

I bet she was right in the middle of getting their house just like she wanted when she had to start over.

Nothing was stable about LSU in the 2 years prior.

We had Aranda for 4 years, Chavis for 6, Pelini for 3, and Muschamp for 4. Every one of those guys left on their terms.

That's only 4 years since Saban was hired that the LSU DC has had quick turnover.

Under Kelly. Who let him go.

How long of a rope would Baker have at LSU? If you’re honest, it could be just one year.

Yes.

If I was a college football coach that got paid 6 figures every time I got fired? Hopefully I had an open conversation in pre-marital counseling, and the expectation of rapid and often job changes was understood.

How long have you been watching football? Hundreds of coaches get fired every year. It's business.

An hour away from her hometown? Why not?

At $2 million plus per year, they can pay to expedite that.

Another queef, cap.

We don't even know if this report is true, the folks at 247 may be just guessing due to the obvious connections.

Well I hope we can keep him for longer than that, but based on what he's done at Mizzou, we might not be able to.
