However, with Golding gone, Bama fans fully expect to surpass Kirby Smart's defense and replace them as #1.
Seems realistic.

Losing all those delayed blitzes with our best pass rusher covering their fastest receiver in obvious passing downs will be the end of Saban

Wow, you are really expending some energy rationalizing 3rd and Golding.

Giving up 10 combined points to Austin Peay, Vanderbilt, ULM and Utah State will help offset the shootouts that depend on Bryce Young to win.

We'll have a solid defense next year too with Coen back as OC on the offensive end. Looking forward to it.

I wonder if other SEC teams also head cupcake opponents on their schedules that would skew their stats.
Hm, probably not, but let me check.

the years prior to Golding becoming DC Bama was
2012 1st Total D 1st Scoring D
2013 6th Total D 5th Scoring D
2014 12thTotal D 6th Scoring D
2015 3rd Total D, 3rd Scoring D
2016 1sr Total D, 1st Scoring D
2017 1st Total D, 1st Scoring D
not in the conference, but all in the entire nation
Under Golding:
2018 16th Total D 12th Scoring D
2019 21st Total D 16th Scoring D
2020 32nd Total D 13th Scoring D
2021 7th Total D 18th Scoring D
2022 13th Total D 10th Scoring D
Looks they regressed under Golding. If Saban wanted Golding at Bama he'd damn well still be there. Saban has somebody in mind most likely hired. Golding was told to kick rocks.

Yea, being behind Troy, Minnesota, Marshall and Air Force, really accomplished teams there.

I’m sure Golding will be great with less talent to work with.

I'm amazed a team managed to finish below us. Hogs were putrid on D this year.

True. Georgia was also behind 2 of those teams, I’m sure their fans are equally upset.

I posted what is a pretty clear split. There are 100 surface level and individual deep dive stats that tell the story that we dipped defensively the last 4 years. We've been going over them in our own threads for 24+ months. You seem bound bit and determined to see things one way without acknowledging anything else.
Congrats on getting Pete. He'll probably do a decent job for you. I guess we'll all see in 2-3 years how it works out.

This isn't Ole Miss where finishing 30th in the nation defensively is considered a great year. This is Alabama where you finish 1 or 2 and finishing 6th is considered grounds for termination. Finishing in the teens nationally is embarrassing.
Golding will fit right in in Oxford and their satisfaction with mediocrity.

Florida and Auburn giving up almost 30 PPH each is incredible.

We know what we are gaining by Golding moving on. In numerous threads Bama posters have tried to explain it’s not just a season stat thing, but those ridiculous 3rd down calls and schemes at times.
Let them learn their lesson!

Friend, it seems like you need to reread my OP. I was 1) praising Bama and 2) saying that without Golding it looks like Bama will be able to improve in 2023.
Wow, Bama fans really are a sensitive bunch

Is that not also about the time Bama started to open up on the offense?
Posted on 1/14/23 at 1:43 pm to Porter Osborne Jr
Negative, Kiffin was hired in 2014

How the frick were we ranked 6th? I thought we gave up more points and yards in the south carolina and bama games alone than most teams in the conference did all season
