Is Miss State even accredited?

MSU has great turf management, LSU great internal auditing.
LSU is harder to get into now and ranked worse. Odd.

Florida and Georgia, the states, have had similar trajectories in the last 20 years. Lottery scholarships gave guaranteed all of both state's top 10% free rides to in state universities, but UF and UGA can't accommodate demand. Those students trickle out to the other universities in the state, leading to a "rising tide lifts all boats" kind of situation.
A buddy of mine still working at UF told me the acceptance rate at UF next years is expected to be under 20%. That's nuts, and that also means that a lot of really good high school students are going to end up at FSU, USF, UCF, and so on if they want to keep that paid-for college education.
That's why you transfer in like I did.

These rankings are always BS and very subjective . Do you really think Clemson is better school than auburn or Texas A&M . Hell LSU is better
ETA . I agree with the fine gentleman from auburn . To many schools are gearing toward a stupid list instead of doing what they were founded to do .

Bama has 60% and Auburn has over 35% out of state enrollment in order to chase these list. They are making tuition so high that citizens of Alabama are having to go to JR College to pursue higher education. Citizens of Alabama are getting pushed out of elite programs over kids from NY, CA and TX. Then these kids leave the state of Alabama and never return. California and NC figured it out and capped out of state enrollment, but Alabama Legislators enjoy their free Football tickets.

I'm not creating a line graph but I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't prove your hypothesis.

The whole bump in rankings for graduating those receiving Pell grants is dumb as hell.
Not really
Colleges deserve to get a bump for that because it is an indicator of how well they serve the students from lower income backgrounds and can they get lower income students to Graduation Day just like they do the rich students
If Colleges & Universities only did a good job of Graduating the upper middle class and rich folks then they would be failing their overall mission
Lower income people have a lot to contribute to Society also, so analyzing how they educate those from that kind of background does have merit
Significant merit IMO

I think in Georgia with State Colleges , as long as you finish a JUCO with a 2.8 to 3.0 in certain core classes you are pretty much guaranteed admission to one of the Flagship State Colleges (GT, UGA, or Ga State), you might no be able to enter in the Fall, but they'll get in in another Semester
A lot more Students should pursue the JUCO route to save tons of cash on those first 2 years of required classes that can literally be taken almost anywhere with no downside

How the hell would you know anything about Clemson or their academics. Did you attend the University? If not then your talking out your arse.

No, based on those numbers in parentheses they are just like each other, unless 85 guys on FB scholly can somehow change the University for the other 35K that attend

Top Law Firms use those Law School rankings to Recruit new hires
Investment Banks on Wall Street use the rankings for B-Schools to recruit new hires
You're crazy and delusional if you don't think Fortune 500 Companies and Business Week 1000 level Companies take those rankings into account when they decide what schools to spend their Recruiting Budgets on for hiring Undergrads and what kind of starting salaries they offer
If these Rankings were BS like you say the the entire "Varsity Blues scandal" never would've occurred, that actress's daughter would've gladly enrolled in Arizona State and her parents could've saved $500K, saved lawyer fees and avoided Prison time (2 fvcking weeks , an insult to Justice in America)

2020 US News Best National Universities
Some schools have made great stride, and some "great slide" over the years.
Here are the averages from 2013-2020:
Thanks for posting. this is exactly why I don't put much credence in these rankings.
My school, the Univ of Alabama is indicated to have slid 75+ ranking spots. This is despite - during the same time frame - massive spending on campus, virtually a doubling of growth, increases in average incoming ACT/SAT scores, better quality of students, and improved research programs. Not even in a "relative sense" could UoA have slid that far in only a few years.

Why do some of y’all get so worked up over these lists?
I couldn’t be more proud of and grateful for my university, regardless of where some policy or stats wonk positions it.
Every aspect of my life is so full, thanks to Texas A&M University.
I owe my school everything.
And I couldn’t give a lick what a few number crunchers in WA DC think of it.
I only wish each of y’all could experience it too!
The next time someone posts one of these lists, smile, raise your glass, and thank God for your motherland.
We’re all blessed.

Why has Alabama fallen so much? I know why LSU has in the last ten years.
Because they probably had a gap in the rankings manipulation or because US News stopped rewarding it
Bama has legitimately gotten a lot better across the board (most schools have, really), but they put a ton of effort into climbing these rankings.

Yep - when I was in school (mid 2000s) they had a clear goal to get better in metrics that US News used. Not that there is anything wrong with that, I think a lot of the things that they did were good, but it was very specific.
After I left was when they moved away from the rankings push and started the push for out of state kids and increased enrollment.
