OU playing 2000-2010 Texas, Missouri, Texas tech, Nebraska is far more challenging week to week than the sec is currently. OU beat 5 top 10 teams in 2008, the big 8/big 12 was the best conference top to bottom pre 2011. OU also plays ND, Fl state, Ohio state etc, every year ooc.

Every SEC team will have a rude awakening next year. Adding two more capable programs is going to make it tough. But it will be more enjoyable.
I've been saying this for months, it's not just adding OU and Texas, which contrary to popular belief will be capable, but it is also the fact that the top tier SEC teams will be playing each other MUCH more often.

I think after going to Baton Rouge and Oxford, OU is going to be pining for the days of Lawrence and Aimes.
Not really because the teams you listed have some semblance of a defense, especially in Ames.

SEC grind is a new phenomenon, made possible thru expansion. The conference has certainly been strong since 2003.. Before that? Not so much.
You guys make it seem like Sewanee and Tulane were never in the conference. Moreover, many of the top SEC teams haven't played the other top teams that many times. Not to mention 8 conference games, which inflates SEC teams record by playing Mercer in November.
Point being, the SEC grind while real, has not always been.
All time games against final AP Ranked teams stats bear that our. All time wins vs. final AP ranked teams further shows where OU and tx stand.
Suppose it takes and LSU poster not to recognize this. After all they spent the 60s to 2003 as a non-factor.

defensively we are losing quite a bit on the defensive line hopefully we can recruit some portal players .
OU hasn’t had a defense since Bosworth was there in the mid 80’s.

A&M and Mizzous best teams were their first 2 years they came over to the SEC.
OU and Texas will be fine.

Texas will lose another 1-2 and finish 9-3 IMO. OU I have as a playoff team
OU also has a top 5 class and coming off a top 3 in 23.
How do you think they will fare next year. I’d imagine OU would be barely below UGA as the second best team and Texas around 4th or 5th
Why? Texas beat a weak Bama by their standards (though for some reason they are trying to talk themselves into believing they are back with games they would've been angry about two years ago). They played each other, and someone is gonna win that.
The rude awakening comes when they play a Bama, Georgia, LSU and then realize it's not necessarily a week to recover matched up against Tennessee, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Arkansas.

Where are you seeing top 3?
ON3, Rivals and 247 rated their class 6, 6 and 5.

This might be the dumbest thread in the history of this site, and that is saying something.
First, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I have two kids at LSU, respect SEC football, watch plenty of games, and I’ve heard this shite since the announcement was made. I’ve told everyone that both schools will do far better than they think from Year 1. Y’all do realize that Texas and OU are both historical Top 10 programs, right? And while it pains me to admit it, my Longhorns have historically underachieved and are still there. Fact of the matter is that if Stoops hadn’t chosen his little brother over Venables and Riley gave a rats arse about defense the Sooners would likely have 2-3 more titles.
I’ll bet anyone on this board that 1) Texas wins out the rest of the way and 2) goes better than 8-4 on average over the next 10 years.
And for you troglodytic A&M humper types, as a Texas alumnus the fact that our school isn’t homophobic or afraid of sex is a point of pride for me personally, but you do you. I’m sure that’s why College Station is as popular as Austin. But even if I didn’t feel that way, someone repping a school known for jizz jars, Milkmen, the elephant walk, and yell leaders shouldn’t be judging anyone given your homoerotic traditions. Every accusation is truly a confession with y’all.
Also interesting that the fans of the most successful teams in your conference over the past several years don’t dismiss the possibility of our success as much as Arky, A&M, Ole Miss, etc. And it has been pointed out repeatedly, but A&M has been MORE successful in the SEC than they ever were in the Big 12. I love LSU (though not all of their fans) and respect Bama and UGA, but we are about to frick a lot of y’all up the next several years.
Have a little melt down there slobhorn?

That is exactly the way A&M wants to keep it. The last thing any Aggie or resident in CS wants to do is turn CS into a liberal shithole like Austin has become.
I don't how long ago you were a student or even if you ever were a student at donghorn university but the place has changed considerably over the last 25 or 30 years and not for the better.

A&M's conference winning percentage is higher in the SEC than it was in the Big 12.
Missouri's conference winning percentage in the Big 12 was 49% and dropped all the way down to 46% in the SEC.
Yeah, that SECSECSEC grind is just impossible to navigate. You dimwits repeat the same narrative and think its unique that middle of the pack/lower teams in the SEC can jump up and beat the top SEC teams and can't wrap your brain cell around it happens in every conference.

quote:Under Malzahn, the real recruiting issue we had was OLine.
From what I can tell Auburn’s problem is that you guys have recruited certain rooms well (RB, DB) and left others entirely devoid of SEC talent (OL, QB, WR).
With Harsin and the potato gang, not only did they not recruit, he ran off a bunch of the roster. Recruiting dropped from traditionally a top 10 area to about 20th but that was particularly focused on OLine. The 2021-2022 classes had 0 top 100 recruits (I don't believe that's ever happened at AU) and 2023 was on that trajectory as well until Freeze came on. I think we were ranked in the 40s leading up to the Harsin Fire/Freeze hiring.

No, they are still going to be who they are. The SEC is the best conference, but it isn't like they are moving to the NFL. Plenty of SEC teams have mediocre seasons on the reg.
Everyone said A&M would do worse when they moved to the SEC, but they have actually done better. Since they moved to the SEC they have a winning percentage of .658 and if you go back through the last 3 coaches prior to them coming to the SEC they had a winning percentage of .641. And that includes their winningest coach ever in Slocum who had a .721 winning percentage.

Sorry xwing/rancho/vinner, nobody takes someone who has been kicked off this site twice yet keeps coming back with a new alter very seriously. Just kind of proves how pathetic your life must really be.
