So is it now a good thing since saben likes it - or is it still the worst thing to happen to college football? Hard to keep up.

Why? Does he not like winning championships?

"All you're trying to do is get lined up [on defense]," Saban said. "You can't play specialty third-down stuff. You can't hardly scheme anything. The most important thing is to get the call so the guys can get lined up, and it's got to be a simple call. The offense kind of knows what you're doing."

What the HUNH does is that it allows offenses that aren't nearly as talented but work together very well to compete with defenses that are superior at every position.
It is the great talent equalizer much like the spread air raid was. Defenses will have to get much smarter and more versatile to be able to keep up with the speed of the new offenses. From everything I have seen and read, the 4-2-5 seems to be a balanced enough defense to be able to play against a HUNH offense, you just have to have a linebacker that is able to be the play caller on the field and a star that can slide into a linebacker spot. Auburn has the right idea but doesn't have anywhere close to personnel that we need to run the 4-2-5 well.

It's also very hard to find 5 cbs on one team that can tackle well.

it doesn't require 5 corners. the 4-2-5 is 2 safeties, 2 corners and a linebacker/safety hybrid.
Looking at Alabama in 2011, imagine having Barron and Lester at safety, Kirkpatrick and Menzie/Milliner at corner and slide Mosely into a safety/linebacker spot. Then you put Hightower and Johnson at linebacker, slide Upshaw up to a rushing end spot with Williams, Chapman and Dial to fill out the front 4. That gives a lot of really good players on the field, several players that can make coverage calls and it is versatile enough to stay on the field the entire game and never have to change personnel to adjust for anything the offense does.
I am sure you could do the same with LSU's defense in each year of the last 5 years. The 4-2-5 is a very versatile base defense with the right people in it.

Saban is scared to fricking death of the hunh. I honestly feel like it will end up ruining his legacy and Alabama will run him off. More and more teams are going to it, and he has absolutely no idea how to even slow it down. He will try to join the masses and run it on offense but will never know how to stop it.
