Luke is terrible but if he somehow lands RR as his OC I think that’s a home run about as good as he can do. Next year will be a real struggle but at least we will have serious experience on both sides of the ball as coordinators

You mean the short timer AD pays Rich Rod 3.5 mil on three year deal? Luke would not be landing anything. We are so stupid right now that we are copying LSU coach strategy. The smart move would be to hire to pure recruiters at oc and dc on one year deals in preparation for firing Luke next year. What is our plan? Another interim washed up coach?

With his speed, plumlee would look good in Rich Rod's offense.

No one will take a one year deal. Why uproot a family for no job security.

One year deals? Wth. No one would take that. Luke is doing his damn job and hiring who he thinks can help us win. Why not just support the guy while he is here and if it doesn't work move on? We aren't wasting money. Rich Rod and McIntyre will not have a hard time finding new jobs if it doesn't work here. Hell we could promote one of them.

Most coordinators have one year deals. I get that no one will want a one year deal w/ Luke but we are letting a lame duck ad saddle us w/ a lot of guaranteed money. It may prohibit us from hiring a quality hc in the future.

Most coordinators don't have 1 year deals. Literally no one signs one year deals.

Luke has done a great job hiring coaches. Bicknell, Sumrall, McIntyre, and Rich Rod. No one can argue that.

In Freeze's defense, Bjork was not willing to put up close to this much money for assistants as he is with Luke. He knows Luke is his final stand and if he fails, then he is out as well. Money is what got MM and Rich Rod here. Not some great persuasion by Luke.

The one "advantage" Ole Miss has with Luke as HC, is that he is not being paid as much as Freeze was being paid. So you could make the argument that Bjork can afford to pay more for coordinators than he could before. I'm probably grasping at straws here, but I do agree with Dores in that the hiring during the Luke regime, whoever is responsible for it, has not been bad.

Maybe now, with RR running the offense, we'll see a system that can cut down on the 3-and-outs, and that improves red zone scoring. In the same vein, I'm hoping to see a defense that is at least decently-coached, with MM at the helm.
