What would y’all do with the lineup today? This current one isn’t working.

I’d move bench to lead off since he gets on base so much. Move Peyton to the bottom of the order so he can get more strikes. I’d start Plumlee in center. If TJ isn’t hitting he is a liability on defense in the outfield. If we have a guy who is a natural outfielder let him play do at least we are getting defense.

Pull Baker and McCants from the lineup. One just sucks and the other is a liability.

This has always been one of my biggest problems with Bianco: he won’t make changes to help postseason play. When he’s in a rut, he just happily drives down it.

Man, wholesale changes scare me when it's win or go to the house, but there's also no denying certain things are not working. McCants's "give a damn" appears to dip mightily when he's not hitting. And all of sudden (relatively speaking) he definitely isn't hitting. Not only that, but all the first pitch swinging doesn't even make the pitcher throw, but well, one pitch to get him out. You can also add in Baker and Leatherwood as damn near automatic outs. The latter did get a hit last night. In Baker's defense, he does a good job at first. No doubt about it.

Defensively, we were atrocious yesterday. The board said two errors, but I counted four: three by Bench at third (if you count the foul ball that drifted well back into play he missed).

And lastly, how many balls did we barrel up yesterday, four at most? Over and over and over we hit weak many times first pitch ground balls off what can only be described as mid-week pitching. It's a lot of stuff to consider but it all led to a very subpar day at nearly the worst possible time. The worst possible time to have a repeat performance would of course be today.

I swear to god Mccants better not try to make another MVP play in center causing a collision and dropping a ball that leads to us losing today

Dougherty is starting today.

In the postseason he has a 1-1 record in 2 games, 6 innings, 4.5 ERA, 4 runs, 3 earned, 1 BB, 9 Ks. Hitters are .296 against him.

Have a wonderful day.

Anyone heard who USM is throwing? My guess is they’ll try to get as much out of Ethridge as they can. He has been a solid starter for them and they inexplicably used him in middle relief Friday against FSU. He threw 40 pitches in the loss.

Dougherty on the bump, with Adcock being first in relief. Broadway was sore yesterday after throwing in games one and two, so will probably see Burton (and possibly Johnson) at some point today.

I just looked it up; Dougherty threw 54 pitches Friday night. Not sure how long he can go.

Burton? Mallitz?

Not sure why I’m focusing on our pitching, which actually has been pretty decent for the postseason. Our hitting has been atrocious. Batting .226 as a team.

Even with how poor our hitting has been, we have scratched 17 runs in three games this weekend. Theoretically, 6-7 runs should be enough to beat USM. If not for our implosion in the first inning yesterday, 7 runs absolutely would have won that game.

If we give up no big innings and just play baseball, the more talented team (us) will win today.

Yeah but most of our runs this weekend we’re gifted to us, not a result of our hitting.

If they don't get this game in I feel like the rule states that the highest seed advances. That makes the most sense to me anyway. Totally not bias at all
