ETA: It’s also possible that KC told Bianco that he should pursue another job because he won’t be detained. Idk though, tough to tell at this point.

We're not canning him after making a super, but wasn't Carter the one who didn't automatically renew his K? Bianco to LSU might actually be pretty good for LSU and Ole Miss.

Aaaaaaaaand Ben Garrett Ole Miss Spirit reporting Bianco is officially returning at Ole Miss.

quote:

Head Baseball Coach Mike Bianco:

“Ole Miss is home for me and my family, and I am committed to bringing championships to Oxford. I’m proud of what we have accomplished over the past 21 years, and I look forward to building on that foundation and achieving new levels of success. I want to thank Rebel Nation for their unmatched support, year in and year out, and how they help make Swayze Field the greatest experience in baseball.”

Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Keith Carter:

“Mike Bianco is our head coach, and with his contract extended to the maximum four years, we look forward to seeing him lead Ole Miss to new heights. We understand that the consistent success of our program will generate interest from other schools, and with any coach, there can be personal factors that come into play. Mike and I have been in constant contact and have been able to privately sort fact from fiction. Our program is poised to take the next step toward success in Omaha, and we believe Coach Bianco is the right person to guide us there.”

No just save it for next year when we barely make the post season because we lose everyone off this team who carried us to the supers.

Well... he didn't specify "national" championships so he's already good on his word there

Bring Super Regional championships or more, a-hole.

We've been poised for that since 2005. He's gotten us there once. Bianco clearly isn't the person to do this. This is the first time I've been pissed at Keith Carter

Disappointed in how this was handled. He thought he was getting the LSU gig and wasn’t shy about it.

I was under the impression that he was offered the LSU job and turned them down.

This is the natural state of baseball talent. As soon as they develop, they're gone. We've had good to great recruiting classes for years. No reason to suspect we won't have young guys stepping up all across the lineup. Happens every year.

Some teams are able to get to Omaha while doing it though. Must be nice.

Every single Spirivals reporter got played on this one. They were all selling us on Bianco getting a legit offer that was his to turn down. Ain't no way Bianco turned down a real offer from LSU. The pressure on him at OM next year is going to make the previous years look like a vacation.

Would love to hear their explanation, the podcasts are going to be lit today

There is no way Bianco turns down LSU if he's given a legit offer. Our beat writers are fricking stupid and have been for over a decade.

I believe he was under the impression that he would be because that's where all of the smoke came from.

Mike did not expect to leave that interview and not have an offer. He would not have done it if he thought that was a possibility. It's pretty shocking how it all unfolded.

Honestly think it would've been more embarrassing for Bianco had we not extended him. Now the egg is on our face. Needlessly extended a coach that no one else wanted.

The more I read, the more furious I am. Keith made a huge mistake.

The only way this could all get a little worse is if State actually sees this thing through to a title this year. Then things would really amp up because let's face it, what the rival is doing is the source of much of the pressure and expectations.

That's why I found announcing it yesterday to be really odd timing regardless of whether he sent a message to the team. Felt like State just wrapped up their win in Omaha and I got the notification.
