Honestly, it really aligns against them. Vandy should've played another game and Leiter shouldn't be available for game 1, but both aren't true.

Fair points, it should be a fun series nonetheless. Idk what State's pitching setup looks like if I'm being honest

State is screwed for their starters. Their best guy Bednar will at best be able to go a few innings on Wednesday while their #3 guy will be limited too. McLeoud has been awful in something like his last 4 starts. Vandy will have a fully rested Leiter and bullpen.

Yup.

If State wins, it will be because our offense just steps up to the plate against great Vandy pitching and pulls through. Its a tough ask, probably wont end in our favor.

I’ve gotta say, State’s accomplishments didn’t annoy me nearly as much as I thought they might. Starting to think getting stirred up over baseball is a tad bit silly.

Let’s be honest the national media doesn’t care about baseball. The only conference that cares is SEC and even that’s only a few schools.

Simply put, this is not true.

This is EVEN MORE untrue. ACC and Pac 12 both sent two to omaha. Pac 12 has won it all recently. Millions in renovations for stadiums too. A pac 12 school just hired a major league assistant.

The WORST baseball program in the conference just built a brand new stadium. Give me a break man. Dont down play baseball bc state won a championship. Ole Miss has an outstanding program. If they can transition from Bianco to a solidified coach, they’re playing for championships too.

Agree with everything you said. Sure the Big 10 doesn't give a shite but almost every other major conference does.

It really is kind of true. Beyond ESPN and the SEC, no one cares. Viewership was down 32% from last year for this CWS. College football title game was 18m vs. 750k for the entire world series. One game vs. a series. Nice win though. I would by psyched regardless of the numbers but Bianco will never win.

That’s bc one of the games was on ESPN2. College baseball is about to see a huge raise in attention across the board. NIL will bring superstars to campus especially for schools like State, OM, LSU, Arkansas, Texas, Stanford, Vandy, etc. How can you say the SEC is the only conference giving it focus when the ACC, Pac 12, and Big 12 all competed their arse off in the CWS. Texas was probably the second most complete team.

99 percent of college baseball programs actually lose money and don’t turn a profit. How many players can you name that don’t play in the SEC? If Ole Miss won a championship in baseball it would be cool but wouldn’t come close to football or basketball. I would easily take a final four run or making the college football playoffs over winning a baseball championship.

I think the fact that the game was on ESPN2 says it all. All the above said, don’t get me wrong. I’d love to see OM win it all. It’s just that seeing State do it didn’t seem to land with the impact I thought it would. I’m sure the same would be said about OM.

Retail tells a different story

I really think a lot of you will be shocked at where college baseball will be in 5 years.

Where will it be?

I’m not sure NIL will have much of an impact. Viewership #s are not great and big advertising $s won’t be spent on college baseball players. Think it’ll be mostly local stores and smaller $s.

Will certainly give schools like state, ole miss. Arkansas, and LSU an advantage. But I don’t think it’s fundamentally changing college baseball.

Just wait till UCLA, USC, and all the small Cali schools start bringing in insane classes again bc the kids are easy as shite to market. Big time money is being pumped into college baseball around the country and disparity is still at an all time low (a team with 11.7 scholarships just beat one with 35 for the championship)

They are easy to market but if no one in the area cares about college baseball paying a player $10k to to share something on their social media/appear on a print ad/tv ad/YouTube ad won’t move the needle. UCLA’s stadium seats 1800 people and they can’t fill it up. Only way the media stuff will make a difference is if they already have a huge following coming into school which most high school baseball players don’t. Even the top 10 draft guys most people have no idea who they are outside of the 1% of college/pro fans that follow high school baseball recruiting.
