Oh. Didn't know it was his first season. I don't keep up with it that closely. I completely agree with you though.

Seems like LSU just runs off national championships in baseball and it’s so common it’s almost no big deal. Maybe they haven’t won one in years, but it just seems commonplace to me. At the same time we throw a ticker tape parade when we finally win one and keep our coach who continues to come up way short year after year despite support that’s top 5 in the country. What am I missing?

There's College Baseball

Then there's LSU Baseball. I'd go ahead and come to terms with that.

Looks more like there's LSU baseball, several other team's baseball and then us. But yeah, I was pretty much over it the second Murray took us out.

LSU is definitely the Alabama of college baseball. But there's no reason we can't be the Georgia or Clemson and be in the discussion for a national seed every year. The fact that we haven't hosted a Super in 20 years is a disgrace. We should host a super every other year. It wouldn't take much more than we're already doing.

Look at it this way. We don't have to compete with other conferences for players. We have to compete with salaries and living conditions in A ball in order to get to that level

Swayze + Oxford + The College Life + a few hundred K $$$ annually is >>>> bus league baseball sharing a room with some Dominican who can't speak English.

We can forget hosting Super Regionals with regularity under the current coaching staff.

There's no reason we can't be as consistently successful as Arkansas, Schtate, Florida, etc. We have a rabid fanbase, elite local talent, and every resource at our disposal.

We're in the same situation Georgia was in at the end of the Mark Richt era. May I remind y'all they fired him after (yet another) 10-win season? But since they had the balls to tell Richt "thanks for everything, Coach, but you gotta go," they've been the big dawg of the sport (no pun intended).

I know Kirby Smarts don't grow on trees, but come tfrick on.

Arkansas has hosted seven Super Regionals since we last hosted one. State has hosted three. State has been to Omaha five times since Bianco took the job in Oxford. We've been there twice. Don't even get me started on how many times LSU and Arkansas have been there.

What are the differences between our program and that of Schtate and Arkansas, besides sustained success? There are none.

Well we have a national title and Arkansas doesn’t. So that’s how we’re different than them. I’ll take that 1 title in 2 visits over the 7 Arkansas has in that time with none

At the end of the day….a national title trumps anything else. But as the years pass….it becomes less of a big deal.

Anyone have any guess as to what our lineup looks like next year. Know we hope utermark, furniss and fawley are back. Maybe Paino makes a jump and is the shortstop, Frederico at an outfield spot and then transfers?

I'm not sold on him. He did a great job this past season but it was 1 season. His team forgot how to hit in Omaha. They just hit a win streak at the right time.

If the freshman make a big leap next year that's a team that could make Omaha. That said, it will depend on Townsend and Paino living up to their potential.
