Hey sorry if I misinterpreted, but I'm seeing a lot of our fans trying to write off and discount Plumlee's performance on Saturday. It would be so WAOM to not let him see the field after yesterday. "He just did his job as a backup." No, he did what wasn't being done, and he did it quickly with poise. Maybe starting Plumlee will push Corral to be better and put better touch on his passes (my opinion on why our WRs have dropped several passes)? Or we see what Matt is made of and if he wants to transfer out.

Alright, I'll say this. Maybe he doesn't deserve the start just yet, but his arse better be on the field rotating series this Saturday.

That was my first thought... gonna at least push Corral more. Of course probably not one of us know how much Plumlee or even Tisdale has already been pushing Corral. Surely we aren’t starting our second best QB every weekend though despite what we saw yesterday.

Based on the SEC this year, at this point I'm convinced half the league was

I don't know if it's him or the multi option plays that Rich Rod runs but alot of balls are going into grass or at the players feet. We would have been in a lot better shape if balls were being thrown where the receiver can catch and run with it.

I would like to see more of Plumlee, though I think starting him against Bama might be pushing it. Then again, if Corral is hurt, we must start Plumlee or Tisdale.

In Corral's defense, he was hurt at some point in the Cal game. That more than likely explains a lot of his poor play late. Then again, he was either overthrowing or underthrowing an awful lot, even early.

If Plumlee can gain a good 15 to 20 pounds on him in a year or two he could be one of the best running QBs in the country. If he was around 215 to 220 he would be able to run 15 times a game. Right now I don’t know if he could survive this season running at his size. Corral ran 15 times Saturday and he won’t last doing that against more athletic defenses. We will probably have to play both the rest of the season to carry the load.

This is a primary offensive problem for us. For the first time in years I have very little criticism for the offensive play calling. The lack of execution of the plays and the inability of the O line to block is killing us.

In all that confusion and lack of guidance, Plumlee got them lined up and got the play off in those few seconds. I'm aware that the play failed, but I was impressed with him in that moment.

Confirmed that both Matt Corral and Plumlee will be part of the offense moving forward (per Matt Luke) regardless if Corral's injury (bruised ribs) holds him out.

Ugh I feel like we are in Arkansas' position with a lack of certainty in our QB

He deserves to start. I'm tired of this Daddy Ball shite. It would be so Ole Miss to not give Plumlee the start after what we just saw him do.

This is a bit of an extreme over reaction from a few minutes of football.

Nothing wrong with this. If anything, it might make them both better.

Although I think Plumlee benefitted from Cal playing prevent defense most of the time he was in, he still made the throws and ran the ball well. He deserves a shot at least

I've been saying for weeks it would be nice to see another backup get a shot. Little different than "a few minutes of football." I was called stupid by several of our fans for suggesting it lol. Matt is a better recruit on paper. But in those few minutes of Plumlee playing, I saw several things I liked better than what we've seen from Corral.

The competition at QB is a good thing. Most big time programs have depth at QB and usually a heated competition for starters. Somebody needs to be the leader of this team. It may have just been coincidence but the team seemed to play harder when John went in. Something we don’t know is how the team views Matt vs John. John could be a better leader than Matt. He may inspire others around him more than Matt. He sure seemed to have a fire in his belly. He single handedly almost willed us to comeback from being down. Matt doesn’t seem to have the it factor that John does. The Memphis game was evidence that Matt was not ready. I wish they would have given John a series in that game to mix things up.

QB UPDATE: After practice, we were told that while starting quarterback Matt Corral did participate in team walk-throughs today, he wasn’t able to do much else. He’s considered day-to-day & still in pain from his rib injury. We are told Plumlee took most of the 1st-team reps. - The Rebel Walk, Twitter

Corral has some of the worst mechanics I’ve seen in quite some time. He never plants his feet which is why his passes are often errant. It’s truly special how much velocity he puts on a ball with such bad mechanics. He has a rocket. He needs to learn to be a regular QB before he tries to be Patrick Mahomes. He can be special.

Plumlee saw a lot of soft zones. He delivered the ball accurately but there were a couple of turd lobs. I’m not convinced he has the arm to be the full time guy. He has some wheels though.

reminds me of the last 10 Miss State QBs. Other than Dack who stands out by being black, I honestly can't remember any difference amongst them. It's like Mullen was making them in a room somewhere and now JoMo has the recipe.
