Corral still has one game left to play. Matt Luke would have to be a freaking idiot to burn his RS year in a meaningless season.

We lost because Longo can’t run a red zone offense.

Defense did well enough to win. Even giving up 388494 points. We had more chances to score than them. They got us 3 straight stops. 18 yards in the 4th is piss poor.

Right. And we were up 10 points. I've said it all year, the argument could be made that Longo in fact has done a worst job coaching than McGriff. He just has significantly better talent on his side of the ball.

Longo doesn’t understand situational play calling at all. We had success running the football in the red zone and we didn’t run it enough. We didn’t have any success running the WR screen all game but that didn’t stop Longo from running it. At the end of the game with a 2nd and 4 with over a minute left in the game we start throwing it 30 yards downfield. We had plenty of time left and the defense would give up underneath throws.

This was the part that absolutely left me utterly mystified. Phillips has been nothing but stellar, was having a hell of game and we totally abandoned that option late in the game with plenty of time left. We voluntarily became one dimensional and we never even gave ourselves a chance to pull it out. Not to mention, Ta'amu was obviously hobbled and running it a little with Phillips or even Woullard only made good sense. I firmly believe a couple of good runs and a screen or two and we could have been perched inside the 20 again set to win the game. How stupid.

Lighten up, Francis. Longo and whoever helps him on that side of the ball did indeed do quite well until the game was on the line and they abandoned 50 percent of the playbook it appeared.

Against a terrible defense. 44 wasn’t enough to win it. No moral victories.

97 percent of our 616 yards were gained in the first three quarters yesterday. We went belly up in the fourth quarter and not all because our QB was hobbled.

If I were forced to keep one coordinator next year it would be McGriff not Longo. As bad as defense has been, I think it’s a little inflated because of the number of plays they are on the field per game. Also like how they have improved over the course of the season. Offense had probably the best game week 1 and have been steadily getting worse it seems like.

Longo has a really solid qb, RB, WR room, and TE. You can’t really get much better players than we already have and his system isn’t working. He’s probably #1 in the nation against shitty opponents between the 20s. However, get to the red zone or play a team with a pulse and he gets shut down. We need to be waaayyyyy more critical of him than McGriff imo.

Considering Ta'amu got injured today

I'll be honest....I actually blame Ta'amu for this loss. He got himself injured by taking far too many hits for absolutely no reason. You could tell he was hurt and every single game someone has hit him this year it rattles the shite out of him.

I didn't see anything from Saturday that would make me point at the coaches(for probably the first time this season)

Haha, OK. Why didn't we have more run only calls? That was why we didn't have at least a chance down the stretch. We abandoned the run for the most part. Especially with Ta'amu banged up. Longo should have told his QB, "Make it look like an RPO, but GIVE the ball to Phillips (or even Woullard)." I will agree that Ta'amu, of all people based upon what we think he seems to feel about contact, took too many shots on many of his keepers. He's just not physical enough not to have slid more than he did.

Smartest thing I've seen said about the game yet (other than fire everybody).

We scored the most points against South Carolina than anyone has all year and somehow thats Longo's fault? This falls completely on Luke.

Are you Phil Longo’s daughter? There’s a reason everyone in the thread except for you is shitting on him.

It's not like I think Longo is great but to put the loss on him is fricking retarded.

People need an easy scape-goat and apparently it's him this week.
