The closer this gets, the better I feel about our chances but I also start thinking we get our asses kicked. Anytime I feel good going into a game against LSU, Bama or UGA we usually get smoked.

My heart says Tigahs, my gut says Ole Miss. I do think LSU is finally a contender again, but I can't get excited about revenge games on the road. Same reason I felt confident LSU was going to win last season despite clearly being less talented.

LSU feels a lot like the Ole Miss team last year. Elite defense with a great QB but no run game and offense just goes stagnant at times. Can pull off a big upset when it all goes well (UGA) but lose games where you were clearly the better team (LSU, Kentucky, Florida).

that's actually a great point and honestly complements why I felt oddly confident LSU was going to pull the upset last season and have the exact inverse this season. the teams have a ton of similarities.

If we have to pretend to like Brian Kelly it would be nice if he had everything more dialed in at year 4. I've read from some pretty reputable guys suggest LSU's offensive scheme is too predictable, but I think kelly was betting on continuity after just having to fire the entire defensive staff a year ago.

I honestly don't think Florida is even a threat at this point.

I agree. At this point I think the list of jobs Lane would leave for is quite small. Especially when considering schools who would never hire him (Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee, USC, etc)

If Florida throws $12-$15 million a year and a 10 year contract at him with hefty NIL guarantees, that’s when I’ll worry. I posted in another thread but Florida just to get Lane in the door is looking at $40 million.

Yeah, I’m optimistic in life but like Henry usually waiting for the other shoe to drop with our Rebs, but like he said the money will be a factor.

I work with a couple of LSU fans as well and every one of them is an arrogant prick. In fact, one in particular has no clue I'm an Ole Miss fan and I just love to sit there and listen to him ear screw everyone about how unstoppable they are. Of course, he's a whole lot less mouthy around the Georgia fan but anyone from when the West was around the guy is insufferable.

They're so full of shite. They talk as if we're an after-thought but the LSU fans at my work are the first to start up a conversation about Ole Miss.

I'm talking to someone else about Miami and South Florida; LSU fan walks up; "you need to worry about Arkansas this weekend."

Don't give that stupid shite any legs. He's not going anywhere anytime soon. Knox and Layla literally just moved to Oxford this summer. His documentary talked about how much the family hates moving. It would go against everything he just said in the documentary if he up and left for Florida.

What I worry about more is another year where that talk heats up, Ole Miss fans go all dumbass and our season gets tanked because of the rumor mill.

Yep. Our fan bases did as much damage as anyone else because we couldn’t shut the frick up about it.

At this point, folks on tRant are just trolling. Unless the NFL comes calling, Lane isn't leaving Oxford while Knox is in school here.

Lane did the team no favors by being vague as hell for several weeks. That’s what caused our fans to get uneasy and the players lost focus over it

Lane said from the beginning that he doesn’t discuss contract or job issues until after the season.

Lane was absolutely to blame for ‘22.

All he had to do was address the elephant in the room, but he couldn’t, because he was actively angling for the Auburn job and I truly believe Lane is a very honest man. It was so bad Tom Hart and Jordan Rodgers discussed it during the entire 3rd quarter of Arkansas’s bludgeoning of us.

I lay that squarely at his feet.

If you wanna go, git. If you don’t, then commit and say so. I still feel that way.
