Would be great for next season. Will likely be terrible the season after that
If dart stays, Simmons leaves.

Simmons could always leave after 1 season as a starter too.
I think in today's college football you need to prioritize the short term view of "what's best for next season" over what's best in year 2-3 given the current roster turnover of the sport.

Or he could not leave after 1 season.
But if bringing back Dart means he leaves now. Then there’s a 100% chance he isn’t here.
It would be different if it didn’t look like we had such a special talent in Simmons. I’d say he’ll yes if our prospect next season was Walker Howard.

I’ll take Dart for another season over an unproven Simmons. I really like Simmons and he has looked great thus far. But Dart is the winningest QB and statistically the best QB in our history. Having him for another year if we could have him is a no brainer

Hmm, I literally rated higher than him coming out of high school. But, we’ll see.

Twitter is abuzz with a lot of stupid Ole Miss fans that would prefer to take Simmons. I really like Simmons but Dart is otherworldly at QB. Any chance to keep him... you would be really stupid to not take that chance.

Holy hyperbole man otherworldly? Cmon now

If Dart stays at the expense of Simmons…I hate to say it but I’d rather Dart go pro.
Dart is awesome and I love the way he plays but he’s got nothing left to prove here. Simmons has three more years and all the tools.
But if Dart stays I’m game. We need to throw the bank at Simmons to stay another year on the bench.

Again, you have an experienced 5th year QB who owns almost every QB record in school history and is the winningest QB in school history.
In what world do you logically say “nah. Let’s go with the inexperienced freshman because he played good in a few games”?

This sounds like some really bad reporting though by on3. The NCAA is considering a 5th year but it’s not even announced yet if it’s going to happen. Jaxson Dart is playing in the Senior Bowl February 1. Why even report this unless it’s 100 percent sure Dart is coming back.

Dart is the 3rd best ole miss QB since 2015 behind swag and Corral. He is a baller but unless the coaches have 0 confidence in Simmons we would be worse off if Dart played another year. Hell, I wanted to Simmons to replace Dart a couple of times this year but that was mostly due to injuries.

I would agree if we were set up with a roster that an experienced QB was the missing piece. Everything points to next year being a rebuilding season going towards 2026. THAT is where we're going to need Simmons.
If we can keep both.....then great. But I seriously don't see that happening.

I get that everyone loves Matt but Dart is clearly a better QB than Matt ever was. Swag was underrated but he simply wasn't as well rounded in the position as Dart.
Why all the Dart hate? Through stats and record, Dart is one of the best QBs in our entire history, and honestly, has a great argument to be considered the best ever. I'm not going to jump into that though simply because of Eli's ability to command the shitty Cutcliffe offense.
Remember, we all thought that the guy following Eli was going to be better than Eli because he looked so impressive in the limited time we saw him and in practice. He was absolutely terrible.
Simmons looks to be really good but he may not be all you think he is when he is QB1. Dart is proven and exceptional. In no world would I pass on the opportunity to have my best QB return. It's simply insane to not want that.

Dart has is better at his skillset but Matt has a much better head on him. Dart panics at time(see: UF game) and seems to lose some composure.

Seriously? He had a major ankle injury, admitted after the game. We also decided to use a WR as RB that game so all the pressure was on the QB position. Florida didn't even have to account for anyone but Dart.
Matt had a game against Arkansas that he threw 6 interceptions. I know we all love Matt but out of Dart, Swag, and Matt, he is #3.

People unwilling to understand how good Dart is and want him replaced by an unproven freshman. Would Corral have been under the same consideration? I doubt it.

You need to take a breath and calm down a bit on the subject. No one is "hating Dart". He lost composure that game as a Senior. He is FAR from the only senior QB to play through an injury. He fricking cried on the sideline. That isn't hate. That's a fact. That is losing composure. That isn't me saying he's a bad or quarterback.....just that he lost composure and that's why I rank Matt above him. I think Matt was a more composed quarterback.

Yes. As a 1st year starter. You're comparing that to a 3-year starting Senior. And even still.....Matt wasn't on the sideline crying in another players lap.

Swag is #3 for the same reason why I rank Matt above Dart. 1 and 2 are very close.....but composure matters at that position more than any other.
