Oregon has been recruiting Mississippi hard the past 3 yrs or so. Either Cristobal noticed the opportunity while at Bama or someone on the Oregon staff had/has ins with MS highschools.
Picayune isn't a very heavy Ole Miss area either. It's LSU 1, State 2, and maybe a toss up between bandwagon Bama and Ole Miss at 3 by a good margin. OM has traditionally not recruited the Coast worth a shite. Golson would be the only one I can really remember.

There are more Rebs in Picayune than you think, especially some of the wealthier people in town.
But I agree, there are a lot of LSU fans there, owing to its proximity to Baton Rouge and the invasion of Louisianans after Katrina.

^^^ Lots of possible answers to this question. Did he just get "passed along" at JA? Did he just quit trying (at least enough) at LSU? Did he go to class at LSU? No telling.

JA doesn’t frick around when it comes to academics, especially with their athletes. Then again, Pogue is their head coach so who knows but it would surprise me if he was. It’s more likely he just didn’t go to class.

Which makes me question if he’ll ever get eligible and/or stay eligible.

Big pickup. Oline is a tough position group to recruit w/ five starters and it just seems like there aren't as many of the elite ones like skill positions.
