Is this not rock bottom? Seriously?

No. No it’s not. We may be heading there and after all this offensive talent we will be there.

But my 6 years in oxford were as follows. 2 years of Coach O. And 4 years of Nutt.

The Coach O years and the last two years of Nutt were so bad this current team would beat them by 50. I still have nightmares of McFadden and Jones running for as many yards as they wanted in a game they scored 50+ in.....

McFadden and Jones were both 1st round draft picks, Fitzgerald and Aeris Williams will combine for more rushing yardage Thursday and those 2 won’t sniff an nfl locker room

The record may not be rock bottom but the program is at rock bottom status, IMO. I have never seen the fan base more disillusioned than now. Even through the Nutt lame-duck period, there was hope of a new coaching staff. At this point, we are stuck with a fat arse line coach that sucks. Nope, I think this is rock bottom over the rest.

Some of you either weren't here in 2011 or weren't fans. It's no where near that bad. The players completely gave up.

Personally I'd rather let Luke fail next year with the team rather than hire a new guy who loses support from this delusional fan base that would think we STILL should be winning after losing what could be 3 first rounders and some important seniors.

Let the new coach come in fresh when the program has truly hit rock bottom that way it's a clean slate.

Dores, I have been an Ole Miss fan longer than you have been alive. Let me tell you. The fan base has never been this apathetic. The WL record may be better this time around but the program is at a cross-roads. If we keep Luke, we are screwed. It really is that simple. I don't think you understand how many people there are right now that simply will not buy tickets. I know people that have held tickets for 40+ years and they are, for the first time ever, doing things other than watching Ole Miss football on Saturdays. Hiring Luke was a complete slap in the face to those of us that have given money for decades. Nutt was bad, don't get me wrong, but keeping Luke one more season will leave our program in a state that 2011 won't even be able to compete. I would rather the team quit on the field and get a new coach now. It is stupidity to wait for it to get worse than it is now to do the inevitable. The new guy would get a pass. He would deserve it as long as the team shows improvement and knowledge of football fundamentals. I just don't understand why someone would want to drive the car all the way off the cliff before applying the brakes and changing direction. That is idiotic.

Empty stadium would a good thing at this point. I don’t even bother watching on TV anymore.

I have sat and watched Wyoming, Jacksonville State, Louisiana Tech and Wake Forest beat us in our own stadium and I stayed for the entirety of those games. I also sat and watched the entire LSU and Alabama games in 2011. I have been a fan through all of the shite. And yeah, our record may not be as bad but the fanbase is not excited about Luke and I've never seen the fanbase more apathetic than it is now

Even during Nutts last two years and during Orgerons last year, there was still some excitement because we knew it would be over and we would go hire someone worth a damn. There's a reason they introduced Luke as head coach to the team and didn't have a press conference in the Ford Center like Nutt and Freeze had. It's because they knew nobody would show up and because they knew the majority of the fanbase didn't want him.

The only thing that will make them change this year is if there are more State Fans than Ole Miss fans at the game this year and we get beat by 50. And I for one, hope that happens.

This is a not unlikely scenario.

You are more optimistic than I. I think Luke would have to rip his clothes off and run around butt naked ringing a cowbell after the game for them to fire him this year.

Huh?

So to stick with the car analogy from the other post, the wheels have fallen off and we’ve crashed into a pole, but we should wait a little longer until the car is engulfed in flames before bailing out

The new coach is going to have a shitty first season regardless, I'd rather have he rebuilding ASAP than waiting

No. Apparently, we would have to wait until the car is engulfed in flames, then wait until all flammable material has been exhausted, and nothing is left but bits and pieces of our charred bones before bailing.

We could hire a good coach and you’ve listed the monetary reasons and support wise however who’s going to hire this coach or negotiate his contract? Oh yeah the same guy who started this whole mess who we also have to fire before this fiasco is over. I’m being serious here do you want Bjork to make another hire or god forbid multiple hires? In what hiring vacuum would any potential coach look at our situation and see any stability? If our administration had moved boldly none of this would’ve happened but they didn’t and we are stuck with the same yahoos as before calling the shots.

Honestly dude I would take the chancellor job free of charge and like Lord Cregan Stark at the end of the dance of dragons I would execute justice on all guilty parties regardless of wealth or status then resign my post and head on down hwy 7 to my regular job if it meant getting rid of these people forever

We're Ole Miss. What do you guys expect? We're a mid tier program. Always have been. Some of you seem to have only experienced Freeze.

And this bullshite attitude is why other fanbases make fun of us. We are mediocre and there are assholes that are just fine with that and don't think we can be anything more. Or worse, don't care it we are as long as they have a reason to go to the grooooooove.

We haven't always been mediocre sweetheart. We were mediocre beginning in the mid 70's after Archie left.

I'm not sure everyone here was slung through the mediocrity of Cutcliffe, Orgeron, Nutt mud and even pre Tuberville (even more average)(not me). To keep whining like take me back to sugar bowls, bring back top 5 recruitment classes, beat Bama. That's not Ole Miss, that's Freeze.
