Unfortunately, my parents were big fans of convenience foods. Didn't learn to cook from scratch until I was out on my own.

ETA: now that I think about it, when she had the time, Mom made a killer chicken and dumplings

Grandmother's breakfast. Grits, eggs, sausage and every now and then pancakes.

ETA: Great aunt's Chicken and Dumplings were D shiznit.

I was not raised in the south, but pimento cheese was always in our fridge, which is a southern food

Sounds like Sunday dinner at MaMa's! Yes to all of that except collard greens.

And I'll add my mom's biscuits and gravy, MaMa's homemade wild blackberry cobbler, MaMa's guinea hen dressing, my aunt's homemade hot pickles, and her peanut brittle.

OH, and my mom's homemade ice cream - vanilly and peach were my favorites.

Red Beans, Greens, Gumbo, Wild game, Bass and Catfish(Pops was big on freshwater fishing), Jambalaya, Cornbread, Rice and Gravy(All sorts of variations).

Fried Pork Chops
Creamed Corn
Green Beans
Corn Bread
big slices of tomatoes
Banana Pudding
(all of it from right there on their farm, minus the banana pudding)

Great Grandfather (her husband)
Homemade Biscuits with country ham, every morning, at 5 AM

Come from a Cajun family, so mostly Cajun food.
That's still my preference.
