Homemade pickles, washed and soaked in a big galvanized wash tub, put in Mason jars and stored in the basement.

This thread is bringing back memories, when I was little we would sneak into the basement to steal jars of pickles. God they were tasty. My grandmother had a room full of canned and pickled goods down there.

My mother's fried chicken
Round steak with gravy over rice
Any rice and gravy, really
pinto beans
cornbread
smothered squash
fried okra
Purple Hull Peas
Country Ham with red-eye gravy
fresh corn on the cob
My grandmother's cream corn
Turnip greens
Fried catfish
Homemade biscuits
My grandmother's fried apple pies

Oh, I hated that pear, mayonnaise, cheese, cherry salad...
