I was watching a stream of a recent championship of one of my favorite games (Smash) where a dude named m2k bodybagged 3 top Melee players in the world, one of which had the username hungrybox, and won the championship.

That made me happy cause I’m a huge m2k fan but in the chat someone mentioned that Hungrybox or Juan DeBiedma “at least had a college education unlike all these other neckbeards.” I got a kick out of that one.

So I looked up his name on wikipidia and sure enough, he got his degree in chemical engineering from the university of Florida.

Just to let you know Gator fans, he’s considered one of the smartest and most sportsmanlike people in the esports community and is loved by just about everyone. I guess you could say he’s your gaming world equivalent of Tim Tebow.

tl;dr: go gators?

Even better. Marshall Applewhite, founder of the Heaven's Gate cult was on faculty at UA as a choral instructor.

And of course afterwards:

And Howard Moreland, the guy who wrote an article explaining the Teller-Ulam design of nuclear weapons and blowing open DOD misstatements about the fallout from nuclear testing, was adjunct faculty for a while.

Interestingly, the DOE had his story blocked for months in court (they lost), but so much information was made public because of their attempt to quash the article in court, that he was able to correct many technical details from the original article.

They should have just let the dumbass hippie publish his article to begin with.

FWIW, I read his book, The Secret that Exploded back when I was in high school. It's really damn interesting if any of you want to look it up.

Street Fighter, MK, Tekken and Soul Calibur can only dream of the amount of technical skill and concentration it takes to compete at the highest levels of competitive smash.

Jimmy Buffet went to Auburn for a quarter or two and then left. I think some still count him.

I think the one I was most surprised by when I was a student at Auburn was Toni Tennille of "The Captain and Tennille" fame.
