What are your opinion on letting kids watch R rated movies? My children, age 12 and 8 want to go see the conjuring 2. Will the theater even let them in to see it?

I have a 13 and 8 year old and they are not allowed to watch R rated movies. When they are 16, they can watch R rated movies.

I'm not a parent, but I'm pretty sure they can be admitted as long as you go with them to see it.

That would be great. I'm thinking of surprising them this week. Just haven't made up my mind.

Accompanied with a parent, you're fine.

It's scary not filthy. There's a difference.

This will be more trouble than it's worth to you. That movie will freak them the hell out and your 8 year old will be sleeping with you for a week.

I was going to say this too. It's rated R because it's so scary. With that said, get ready to deal with a kid that is freaked the hell out. I'm assuming you all have seen the first conjuring.

One suggestion I have for you is if you want them to see it, you should see it first without them. After you have seen it, it will help you make the best decision.

8 is too young for R movies. 12 is closer to the right age to begin thinking about letting them watch, depending on the movie and maturity of the kid.

Let them watch the movie. They will be fine if they get a little scared.

Too young.

Maybe if they were both in high school, but R is 17 and above for admission I think.

I have a 10 yr old daughter. We limit much of what she watches and R rated IMO is a bad thing.

You're their father...not for us to tell u what to do

No, I never let my boys watch crap like that, especially at those ages. I hate today's movie industry.

They sell shock and awe. Plotless crap with bad acting seems to be the biggest genre.

I have three kids. There is no way I would have EVER taken an 8 year old to see an R rated movie and unlikely that I would have taken them at 12.

I also agree with this:

Ditto with my 8&9 year old girls. Why rush all the crap that's gonna get thrown at them anyway?

If they are films of substance, I do. Historical dramas, films of critical acclaim, etc.

Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, Blade Runner, Passion of the Christ, and so on. If I deem they are worthy additions to cinema, then I don't typically discriminate.

If they're junk movies, then I don't allow it.

Little kids are going to start seeing tranny dicks and man vaginas in locker rooms and showers at school, so you might as well let the kid watch whatever straight porn you have lying around or the kid might be more inclined to go tranny.
