But, 20 minutes from Fayetteville, suburbia is getting a Top Golf!

This is going to rustle some Washington county jimmies, but there is an assload of traffic going from Fayetteville to Rogers/Bentonville every morning. The fact of the matter is that Fayetteville is a suburb of Benton county.

We have one in Huntsville now. What the hell is it? I assumed it was just like a fancy Japanese driving range.

I just think it's way too try-hard and "look at me". I mean what's the point? Shooting off a turf mat from a 2nd story into basically an arcade-looking field doesn't simulate a real golf round in the slightest. Bringing your old trusty tried and true 7-iron instead of using the one they provide just seems incredibly unnecessary. But I mean people are bringing full bags, complete iron set. Just looks silly.

I guess I just wouldn't be as concerned about the way it looks. I haven't gone recently, but if you're a somewhat decent golfer and want to hit your own clubs instead of the flex-shaft ones they have I just don't think it's a big deal. Obviously depends on how many people you're going with and who those people are. If it's social with guys and girls I probably wouldn't try to bring them. If it's just a bunch of guys hanging out, I can understand wanting to bring your own clubs.

We went to the one in Charlotte not long after it opened; it's more like a fancy bowling alley for golf. Different games you can play, couches and tables to hang out in your bay for your group. They had a live band when we went. I've only been that one time, so I don't know if it's always like that.
It's just a fun time.

Coolers not allowed on the golf course. TopGolf has a full bar and menu Why would I bring my own?

Fayetteville is too busy keeping things funky to care. City leadership/ planning there is terrible.

The one in Nashville is fairly new also. It is right downtown, not far from Nissan Stadium. When I need a change in scenery and don't want to walk to down to Broadway, Top Golf it is.

Wanted a Dave & Buster's and a Topgolf, now we'll have both.

If Tulsa didn't have a Cheesecake Factory we'd have one of those too

We have a few in Houston. Theyre fun for about 20 min. It’s overpriced and get some old.

Not rustled. The transition has been happening for the past decade at least. Benton County has been the larger county for a while now.

I’ve been to the one in Charlotte twice. Pretty easy to drop some $$$ while there, but overall, it’s fun. The clubs are cheap, and anyone with a swing speed over 80 won’t hit true shots, but I still wouldn’t recommend bringing your own sticks.

To me, it’s like a huge sports bar with beer, TVs, hot girls, and golf.

It can certainly be obstructionist, but I'll take it over the abomination of Pinnacle. Bentonville is starting to get into some really bad development and planning as well (they've been able to get by on the largess, good taste and political clout of the Waltons, but things have loosened up as a result and shitty developers are taking advantage), and don't even get started on Springdale. It's awful.

Overall, I'll take the somewhat thoughtful, but measured, progress in Fayetteville (crappy faux modern student housing excepted) over the boomtown chaos of the other areas.

TopGolf is fun, but I’ve always thought that if I’m gonna spend that much time and money, I migh as well do the real thing.

Main reason I love TopGolf is that I can do it at night and it's not hot as balls outside.
