Sound of silence. They used it in Blacklist on a powerful scene and have loved it since.

frick those are awesome covers. I would personally have to go with Bad Wolves by a super slim margin.
I’d like to add Metallica - Turn the Page to the discussion as well.

Heroes Peter Gabriel
I love Bowie, but Gabriel's version just hits me hard.

I fantasize about walking into a UFC fight to Zombie.
I'd be tempted to take the cover.
Until I saw that video.
I'd go with the original.

I think the cranberries did a better job with Zombie.
Saw SOS live by both Simon and Garfunkel and Disturbed. Disturbed version still makes my hair stand on end.

I'm going Bad Wolves.
Since we are on metallica, I like the Tuesday's Gone cover they did as well.

Metallica’s covers of Blitzkrieg and Am I Evil are classics due to their improved production quality over the originals, it depends on the day as to whether or not I prefer them or the originals. The raw quality is something I dig I dunno.
Back in the New York Groove by Ace Frehley is a cover of a Russ Ballard tune which I like more than the original.
Joe Cocker’s version of A Little Help From My Friends from Woodstock is a classic as well, IMO slightly edging the original even though I’m a big Beatles guy.

Im gonna give it a hard pass on both!
Also....dont cover Zombie. There is no way to come close to what Dolores O'Riordan did to it. imo

The Disturbed Sound of Silence is so fricking cringe.
Please, kill it with fire.

Diamonds and Rust by Judas Priest is better than the Joan Baez version to my ears just cuz I’m a sucker for that kind of disco beat it has going on for it. (Percussion/time signature wise, instrumentally it’s solid heavy rock) Also Rob Halford kills it on the vocals. Not to say I don’t like the original but it’s a little granola for my tastes.

Also on the subject of Priest covers is the Green Manalishi, covering Fleetwood Mac’s Peter Green era tune of the same name. I like both versions about the same as they encapsulate different eras of hard rock pretty succinctly. The Mac version from ‘68? having a slower, ponderous tempo and more subdued instrumental tones than Priest’s 1978 heavy metal pounding of the track. But mac’s version has a haunting sort of feel to it, embodied in the producer cranking up the reverb at specific times during the track. Good stuff and I’d recommend either song.

Like it two tough choices. I'll go with one for two hundred.
Disturbed version seemed 2me to be less covery with it's much darker emphasis on word play.
While Zombie was startling at first but quickly (2me) went flat from being over produced; much like an overdone Phil Spector wall of sound (muy pablum). It's kinda like choosing Adele doing 'If It Hadn't Been For Love' over Chris Stapleton. Good but not better.
