Willie Mae's Scotch House in New Orleans. End of debate.

It's funny I just read this... I was putting together the bag deal this evening at publix and realized it was actually cheaper to buy it all separately... not even fricking with you. Do the math next time...

tie between two in the Natchez area for me, Carriage house and the old Lorman general store.

one thing i'll never understand is the love for Publix chicken. has 0 flavor. i get it though. different strokes for different folks. people dont understand why i prefer KFC.. them dam however many herbs and spices are on point when cooked correctly. they just arent consistent.

Cane's
Story here is Todd Graves turned in a term paper outlining how he would start a business (Cane's) and received a poor grade and was told, "that would never work, you need to offer more than just chicken fingers......"
Earned the capital needed as per the story in the link...got rich and looked the teacher up and said ... well, guess you were wrong. Have a feeling the last part is BS.
Todd Graves
Damn, that's a lot of dead chickens

That's a load of crap. I like Gus's, but it's way to tame. The store they opened in Nashville only lasted a little over a year. They just couldn't hang with Prince's, Bolton's, and Hattie B's...

Chick-fil-a. I can get away with this more.
Not so much Cane's or Zaxby's.

In southwest Louisiana, you've got to try Reggie Ball's Fried Chicken in Lake Charles or any of the handful of Fausto's restaurants in the area.

All of these southern chicken finger restaurants (including the sauce at Zaxby's) are all just rip-offs of the original that has been around since 1965...

Thread.
The Lorman country store beats the Carriage House by an inch but it's still the best. Fried in small batches in cast iron and never dry. I recommend anybody with in two states to make the ride to eat Mr. D's chicken and have him sing an old hymn to you while you eat. Southern fried chicken and sides should be defined behind the Lorman Country Store.

I have yet to find a country lunch that compares to Mr. D's

In Athens, I ate at Guthries almost every day when I lived in Russell Hall. It closed down in the late 90's, not sure why. They did plenty of business.

They were probably doing something illegal. Shady owners.

Surely it was nothing like the upstanding business owners of Tuscaloosa giving away free suits and Dodge Chargers.
You're just salty because Guthrie's was started and is still owned and run by AU Grads.
