None as chicken is a disgusting food, smell, and creature.

Fat Albert's in Lafayette, LA

The chicken is superb ... as are the sides (get the dirty rice).

Since you seem to be an OM guy I'll throw Gus's in there. Popeyes used to be my go to but ever since Gus's came to Oxford I don't eat fried chicken anywhere else (unless I'm not in Oxford of course).

I don't value the opinion of anyone ranking fried chicken that has a damn chicken finger place on their list. Sure, if you're 7 years old, but we're supposed to be adults here. Southern fried chicken has bones and skin.

I have to agree and add on the "best fried chicken" isn't going to be found in at a fast food or chain restaurant. The best fried chicken I have ever had was at Adhoc, which is hard to believe, in Napa California.

Meh from here on...
I can't believe you mentioned Publix. They've gotta have as good a fried chicken recipe as any national outfit in the country. I'll call the deli and find out when their next batch is being cooked so I can get it fresh and hot. If you like potato salad, pick up their "southern recipe" also in the deli. I can damn near eat an 8 piece box by myself!

When they run their 8 piece box (2-thighs, 2-drum sticks, 2-wings and 2-breasts) for 6.95, damn man!...it's like stealing!

Publix fried chicken blows all these chain places out the water.

Anyone who hasn't had publix fried chicken needs to get some next spring break when you go to Destin with the rest of the south.

That is a fact. I try to forget about Publix since I've moved out of their territory... So damn good.

There's a Champys in Athens now off Baxter. I've enjoyed it the times I've been. Fries and chicken are good and the sauces are right on. I appreciate the dimly lit beer joint vibe they're going for, too

If we arent going to a restaurant on the lake(Lanier) we get a friend chicken meal. its messy, but it doesnt matter if you are on the back of the boat.

Publix's fried chicken is okay. It's a touch too salty for my taste. I'd prefer some heat in place of that salt.

Nashville hot chicken is definitely the best southern chicken. Although I'd take Prince's over Hattie B's.

one near my work has the tables to sit down for lunch. I go in for a sub to be healthy, but always end up getting the chicken fingers and honey mustard from the salad bar. They are so frickin good. I don't care if I look like a kid.

Chicken Tender sub is the best of both except for the healthy part. Get them to toss the chicken with with honey mustard after they cut it up.

I'm not saying it is the best chicken in the south but it is pretty good.

Edit: If you really want to look like a kid get some popcorn chicken. My kids tear that shite up.

We got a Gus's about a year ago. Since then, all other chicken taste like crap. Gus's is that good.
