Yes, I know it's too early to drink, but people, it is never too early to think about.
What's your go to Scotch?
I'm pretty much exclusively a single malt kinda man, but will drink JW black and Chivas on occasion. JW Blue is overrated blended horse piss, and not even close to worth the price.
My current favorite is GlenMorangie Nectar D'or 12 Year old. But I don't drink it in volume, little too expensive.
For volume drinking I usually stick to Glenlivet 12.

As a young man, I was a Scotch drinker. My drink of choice was Glenlivet 12. On several occasions I was fortunate enough to have some 21 year old Glenlivet. One usually must acquire a taste for scotch and good scotch should only be taken straight @ room temperature.

The man speaks truth.
The only acceptable addition to a glass of scotch is 2 ice cubes, and only if it's early in the day and it's hot outside. A splash, A frickING SPLASH, of water is only acceptable for the first glass, after that, strictly prohibited.
I've kicked people out of my house for asking for club soda or wanting a Rusty Nail.

I don't drink Scotch often but when I do its usually Glenlivet 12.
Here is the thing for all you potential Scotch drinkers out there... you want that "sweet spot" in price. Really cheap Scotch? Yeah, that tastes like rubbing alcohol. Really expensive Scotch? It might taste great, but you can't sit back and casually kill a bottle on a lazy afternoon unless you won the lotto.
I think that Bourbon, as an example, is always better with a splash of water or ginger ale, just a splash mind you. Scotch should be drunk neat whenever possible though. Maybe ice cubes if its broiling outside. You want to savor a good Scotch. If it needs to be mixed with something to make it palatable you don't need to be drinking it.

THE MacCallan 12 or 15! The 15 fine oak is exquisite. Haven’t made it to 18 but I’m sure it is amazing too.

I'd love for you to send me you top ten favorite bottles of Scotch, and I'll get back to you with a ranking of them.

Lagavulin 16 yr Single Malt is my favorite right now

I always keep a bottle of Glenlivet and a bottle of Lagavulin. The Glenlivet 18 is really good, probably my favorite I’ve had, but I like the nadurra and 15 too.
The Lagavulin is good, but overpriced imo. I’ll probably stop buying it and just buy laphroaig which is also pretty good.
I drink mine neat typically, but if I have a cheaper bottle like Glenlivet founders reserve or 12, then I’ll make a cocktail like a Rob Roy.

Oban 14 if I can find it at a decent price. I can get them for $60 a bottle at Costco when they have them. I like Highland Park 12 also.

Yep
And you keep a bottle of Chivas around for those.
Don't go there much anymore but slowly working on recently refound Genfiddich Special Reserve

12 and 15 yr. old Genfiddich is good stuff, too. It tastes a little more buttery than Glenlivet and is a nice occasional change of pace.

I tend to lean towards the more Peaty selections of Scotch. I enjoy the smokey flavor. Probably why i enjoy Mezcal

I always keep a bottle of Glenfiddich 15 and Oban 14 on my bar. Prefer Speyside scotches, but I like Highlands, too. Islays are often a little too smokey for me but I enjoy them occasionally; currently have a bottle of Bunnahabhain, too.
I like scotch.
