*I don't know when Gary Pinkel will state this publicly, but I'll be beyond shocked if James Franklin isn't the starting QB. Not only is he playing the best, but he got about 95% of the first-team reps today.
Happened in the spring and still happening. Don't frickin' tell me it's an open competition when only one QB gets to play with the #1's. If Franklin is your choice, just frickin' say it. If he's not your choice, then let the other QB's actually get to play with the #1's. Of course Franklin is going to look better. He's playing with the better players. Franklin may be our best option but stop doling out the bullshite that it's an open competition. Never was and never will be.

Yepp, was surprised not to see his name either.

Pinkel said Missouri came out "very healthy," mentioning only a sprained ankle for Sheldon Gerau among injuries

That is probably the best news of the day. Doesn't sound like anyone or anything else really stood out. Maybe Printz being 15/16.

I think he feels the warmth and it's just a political move to give most fans something to talk about besides last year.

Oh there's no doubt, but for me it just makes his seat warmer because as my wife likes to tell me "His mouth opens and shite flows out."

I agree, I honestly don't think his seat is that hot based on the people that can actually make a call on his job.
This is a PR move for the fans, it's got to be.

I'm with ya mogray. I don't think Berk is as bad as some make out. In fact, I'd probably still prefer him over Franklin, but will ride with whatever decision the staff makes. I also just don't think that ultimately he's the best QB on the team either.
What has Berk ever shown that gives people the idea he is worth a damn as a passer. Sure the OL and playcalling sucked last year but he was a deer in the headlights. His strong "practice" arm never showed up in games as he had many many under throws.

One thing jumped out at me when I looked over the stats. On Thursday, Matter said RSFr Sean Culkin could possibly be All-SEC by the end of the season. And there were articles last week saying he was a more complete tight end than some of our All-Americans. But they were teaching him blocking.
Why did he not get a single pass thrown his way yesterday? The plays he was in on were all blocking plays. With his pass-catching ability being extolled by the media, I expected to see a few balls thrown his way.

thats exactly what i was thinking Semo. I figured maybe he was hurt but then HCGP said there was just that one ankle injury.... i just dont understand sometimes
Posted on 8/11/13 at 8:23 pm to TrueSon2014
No, he wasn't hurt - he was in on several blocking plays. Maybe that's what they wanted to see from him? Maybe they're confident in his catching ability, and want him working on blocking? I don't know. I'm puzzled.

That is what my thought was semo. He showed last year he could catch the ball. One of the biggest changes in the offense this year is supposedly having the TE block. They probably wanted to work as much of that into the playbook as possible, believing that running routes/catching the ball will be fine. But still...zero looks?

I should have elaborated not his ankle another injury to another player.
I just don't understand why he wasn't in any pass plays.

Marcus Lucas?
Mizzou officially has 4 different WR positions. Lucas will be the starter at that 4 position. So it will really just depend on which formation they play as to whether or not he is in the starting lineup.

Yeah, I know this...
Just didn't see him anywhere on the depth chart.
