It was obvious with his " corporate donors" bs exactly what Drink was doing.
I hope our athletic department is/was already looking.
I can see a scenario where this could blow up in Drinks face.
My opinion is fk him.

I'm creeping towards the "let's leverage his arse out before he uses us as leverage" camp by the week. shite or get off the pot! Love it or leave it!
I don't think coach Kardashian is worth all that bullshite going on down south, and you are definitely not going to get your arse wiped like that by any folks up here. You might be thinking about how folks in Arkansas do things, Drink.

I think the NIL era allows for having an X-and-O's guy. Players are making their choices based on money and opportunity(playing time.)
Mizzou's budget for coaches and NIL allows us to get enough talent to compete with anyone. We only need smart coaching to lean on our advantages and avoid opponents' advantages.
What I'm saying is the worst rebuild I could imagine, if the coach is competent, is 1 year where things slip through our fingers because of timing.
If our coaching search has already begun, and has solid targets, we could probably avoid most of the roster attrition that hits teams that have coaches leave.

Bad year for "names". Plenty of good coaches out there.
Mike Gundy is a "name coach" I like out there. 58 years old.
Depending on why he had bad seasons before he got fired. Maybe old school coaches do not relate well with NIL athletes.

Pretty sure he’s 40

NIL was Gundy's issue, same as Deebo, so he'd have to embrace the new reality.
Gundy would be a decent fallback choice to hopefully keep the floor where Drink has raised it.

OK. Let's see your short list with the reason to hire them.

Bob Chesney. Took a program with 10 players left after Cignetti u hauled everything to Indiana and built it to a conference championship contender in two years. Young, aggressive, offensive minded.
Any number of other G6 coaches ready to roll the dice in the P2. Get them young and cheap and put the money into staff and players. Look for coaches whose players are regularly poached by P2 schools. Those are the guys who know where to find talent.
Oh, and find an inoculation against Missouri Turtle syndrome.

I hate PSU, but that would be a very smart move. And a nice kick in the nuts to Drink.

Drink was always going to be the redhead in case the blonde said no for PSU, Florida and LSU.
And since PSU opened, his record is 2-3, his wins against Auburn (1-6 in SEC play) and Mississippi State (1-6 in SEC play). Our other SEC win was South Carolina who is 1-7 in SEC play. Luckily, we finish with Arkansas, 0-7 in SEC play.
In the end, best case scenario is that our four conference wins come against teams a collective 3-29 in SEC play (and we could legitimately be Arkansas’ only SEC win).

Gundy is low hanging fruit. JFC.

Gundy didn't embrace NIL, exposes his defense like Heupel and never built a team through the lines. No thanks.

Drink isnt going anywhere. PSU is out. Time to start shopping for OCs.
Our boyfriend tried to dump us, but the popular girl turned him down, so he came back to us. But he swears he wasn't interested in the popular girl. If we had any pride, we would shut the door in his face. But we don't, so we will just accept him back with open arms.

If PSU is smart, they'll hire Terry Smith. Lordy, the fans are chanting his name and holding up signs.

As long as he upgrades the OC, I'm good with that. Next year's schedule is rough.

Because letting the fans and players choose a coach is such a good idea, and in the knowledge that I loath Penn State, I heartily endorse this.

If Drink had come out immediately dismissing all rumors, I would look at him and this season a little differently. Loyalty goes along ways. Similar with players.
His actions, or lack of, reminds me it’s a business. Time for him to deliver an ROI. Same for players.

I do think Drink has handled things better than Kiffen, though that's a low bar. I really don't think he ever intended to leave, but tried to use the coaching carousel to leverage donors. However the offensive ineptitude displayed the last several games blew that up on the pad.
Will be entertaining to watch him arse kiss his way back into good grace with the monied set. My former booster boss (I've retired) was not pleased.
