Sean Payton wouldn't allow him to take the job?

snicker

Nielson used LSU for a raise and extension, just like so many coaches used Auburn for the same thing

Just like saban and coaches at Alabama. Thanks for thinking of both our programs though...

No because he actually accepted the job.

I don't know who to feel more sorry for: LSU or the Saints.

The problem with O is nothing new. Years ago he angered many coaches, players and fans by not adhering to protocols.. going after players on other teams without regard to proper procedures or rules etc.

In this latest case he was informally negotiating with a Saints coach without the first nod toward the proper way to do this.. which is seek permission first. Now... either he is a classless idiot who doesn’t know about procedures, or he thinks he is above it and doesn’t care.

Well...Payton just sent him a message. And quite a few LoSUers apparently don’t get it either. His way of going after Neilson was stupid and ill-informed. I’m tending toward thinking O is truly ignorant.

There is an informal protocol amongst college coaches regarding this. But not among college to pros or vice versa. Payton is keeping Nielsen as an insurance policy for when Dennis Allen goes for an HC job again

Nielson has been written and talked about for three weeks... during the NFL playoff to boot. LSU formally requested permission to interview him only last week according to press. That crap is bull shite. Alll the previous contact could be easily called tampering... and interfering with a playoff bound team’s preparation. WHICH IT WAS!

And this is on top of the two previous hires which also may not have been done with proper methods during the NFL playoff run.

All signs point to a lengthy and detailed informal negotiation between O and Nielson long before a request to interview was tendered. Sorry my friend...the facts point to 0 being a fool.

C'mon man.. I like to mess with SOME LSU fans as much as anyone.

But this just isn't intellectually sound as an argument.

SP is holding on to him to see if the current DC takes a different job... Perhaps as a HC in the nfl..

Dude...

I’m not sure fans posting about a prospective hire on a message board will classify as tampering.

How could Freeman get an extension at a new school? Jesus Christ
