Word is that Starkel only suffered a stinger that numbed his arm, that is per his dad according to a source

He should be good to go

Hicks looked good though

Morris said Starkel is still the starter. Most are still behind Starkel, he may be turnover prone but will also make bigger plays and stretch the ball down the field. Even in his 5 INT game he still threw for 350+ and 3 TDs. Plus he still has another year left.

If Hicks can look like that though it will be nice to have a solid backup.

Short answer is no.

Long answer is maybe?

Starkel has a vastly higher upside... but as the San Jose State game showed he has a vastly lower downside. If he gets hot he can win you a game you shouldn't have won. If he gets cold however... you can lose to anyone.

If the rest of the team was up to SEC levels I'd probably take Hicks and trust him to manage the team. Since we aren't up to SEC speed Starkel is the choice because he gives us a puncher's chance of winning.

Agree with all of that. I do think we would likely have won vs SJSU with Hicks at QB. I also think that Bama/Auburn/LSU would eat him for lunch. They would recognize the lack of a deep threat and take everything else away. Starkel is our only chance to keep those games from being 52-10 types

With the way their Dline pushed our Oline around probably would have lost in 52-7 fashion if Hicks was QB.

No turnovers, just 15 sacks and 35 balls thrown into the stands.

Starkel is still the starter. He doesn't need to try to meet big guys head on,it's a wonder he didn't get hurt worse.

Do the aggies have another qb?The one they got needs to be pushed.

If I was an Aggie, I'd be pissed at the money that they're paying Jimbo for a weak arse product in year 2

But they've out cruited Texas the past 8 years, gettin all dem Texas boys.

And they are still mediocre, just like Texas, and the higher ups thinks Arkansas just needs to cruit Texas harder.

Last year was pretty good. We aren’t the type of program to piss on a nine win season.

It's business as usual for them.I've seen it since the sixties.

But they did get a women's basketball title with our ex coach.

Maybe they should go after all coaches we fire.

Am I the only one who remembers Hicks barely being able to move the ball on Portland State?

What we needed to do is field a team with nothing but those hard assed Arkansas kids no one else wants.

Another HUGE Arkansas gaffe getting rid of Blair. We just continue to step on our dicks.

And I continue to be a fan, even after 50+ years.

Nope. You aren't.

Again, there is likely more arm talent on the intramural field.

If we stick with him, he's going to get EXPOSED. Starkel is our only shot at winning a game or two in the SEC and if KJ isn't ready to go next year, Starkel needs the damn reps.
