Lots of folks downvoting my post; probably presuming by my post it's a "I know my limits" kind of thing.
I'm referring to a single beer. If I feel a damned thing, I don't drive; if I have a second or anything stronger, I don't drive. I always talk to my wife before hand too, make sure she's okay driving (if it's raining or dark, I don't drink anything). Always have someone available to drive you home (spouse, friend, Uber, whatever).

It's weird because you become attached to these guys you don't even know because they played for the team you support.
My initial reaction was to try to defend him in some way but if it turns out that he was driving while drunk and killed a lady then he needs to suffer the fullest consequences of his actions.
It's so unbelievably sad.

quote:This part is especially problematic for Ruggs. Ostensibly can’t plead to a lesser offense and can’t have his sentence suspended nor may he get probation.
2. A prosecuting attorney shall not dismiss a charge of violating the provisions of subsection 1 in exchange for a plea of guilty, guilty but mentally ill or nolo contendere to a lesser charge or for any other reason unless the attorney knows or it is obvious that the charge is not supported by probable cause or cannot be proved at the time of trial. A sentence imposed pursuant to subsection 1 may not be suspended nor may probation be granted.

They are claiming he had signs of impairment at the scene and charges will be filed this morning. The anecdotal evidence of driving too fast at 3 30 AM and signs of impairment suggests he refused the breath test at the scene. Until I hear otherwise I am going to assume he will be facing serious charges that may send him to prison. He killed somebody.

What value is a NFL statement of an investigation when he has been charged with DUI causing a death? The only investigation that matters is how bad did he fail his mandatory blood test at the Hospital.

Absolutely none.
I'm guessing they felt that they had to issue something because they were getting bombarded with requests for comment.

Not sure what will happen here but some years back an NFL player got off real easy with mostly probation in some joke deal the victim's family and Judge signed off on because the family wanted a real big payout instead of him doing the time in prison and it wasn't going to happen without him being able to still play.

Yeah, I find it strange that vehicular homicide and dui causing death have to be two different charges. Vh should cover reckless operation and dui causing death.
I don’t understand why you can’t be charged with vh unless you already have 3 strikes on your record. That what was posted earlier and cannot be right. Makes zero sense

In the Nevada legal verbiage that KaiserSoze99 posted on Page 3, it partly stated:
quote:
A prosecuting attorney shall not dismiss a charge ... in exchange for a plea of guilty. A sentence imposed ... may not be suspended nor may probation be granted.
I take this to mean that the penalties are mandatory, regardless of what he pleads.

It's been a rough week to be a former bama receiver.

Knowing the NFL he will only miss 3 games and get traded to the cowboys.

Dang this is very unfortunate.
How would a Rav 4 catch on fire from a rear end collision? I know anything is possible, but seems unlikely? Did it get ran into something else the front looks messed up also?
Corvette at 3:30am gotta assume there's a good chance he was speeding, which is even dumber if under the influence.

Streets probably pretty empty at that time of the morning. Ruggs was more than likely getting his speed on. He was probably 70+ before impact and 50+ at impact .
