I have nothing against either of them. Solid players.
I don’t see anything, so far at least, that makes them such overwhelming favorites to be the last two horses in the race. Stats are good, but not outliers, or even consistently at the top. Their teams are good, but not dominating.
I haven’t watched a great deal of games outside the conference. Mostly B1G because of where I live.
When Cam, Manziel, and Burrow won it, they clearly were game-changing players for that one season. I don’t see ANY players being that impactful so far this year, but that still doesn’t justify these guys being the only two names we seem to hear.
Flame away.
Give me two names you would personally put in front of them right now on your Heisman ballot.

What's going to be funny is listening to everyone bitch when Caleb Williams gets invited to New York only playing half the season. He is definitely a game changer. There are already people asking the question if he can win it only playing half the year.
Caleb is a talent and should only get better. But let's slow your roll a bit....what I saw vs. the Horns were a lot of jump balls bailed out by poor DB's and good WR play. That won't work week in and week out.

Huh?
Cam Newton beat Alabama in 2010
Manziel beat Alabama in 2012
Burrow beat Alabama in 2019
All 3 won the Heisman that year.

Honest question: Why are Young and Corral such Heisman favorites?
Because there aren't a lot of options this year.
You don't have the absurd stats of Burrow. You don't have the eye-popping feats of DeVonta Smith. The last three guys:
DeVonta Smith - 117 rec, 1856 yards, 23 TDs, several highlight reel catches
Joe Burrow - 402-527-6 / 5671 yards / 60 TDs / 201.96 rating
Kyler Murray - 260-377-7 / 4361 yards / 42 TDs / 199.20 Rating / 140 Att - 1001 yards - 12 TDs rushing
Corral through 6 games:
122-184-1 / 1728 yards / 14 TDs / 169.2 Rating / 88 Att - 450 yards - 8 TDs
Young through 7 games:
156-224-3 / 2082 yards / 24 TDs / 180.4 Rating
Neither Corral nor Young are on pace to match the guys who were winners recently; however, no one else is either. No running back is having an OMFG type season needed to overcome the fact that 8 of the last 10 trophies have been won by QBs (1 WR and 1 RB the outliers).
The kid at Costal Carolina is likely to obliterate the passer rating record that's been broken each of the past 5 years, but his rating is patently absurd that I doubt it will be broken after that (presuming he doesn't either tank the rest of the season or suffer an injury) - but he's not even remotely in the discussion.

Without Corral Ole Miss in trouble. Without Young… Bama really not.
Corral is amazing at times.

A big part of each of them winning was beating Alabama.
Corral flopped in their biggest game of the year. Stats can't hide that. Of course Young has lost a game as well...but it wasn't a head to head matchup with the other Heisman favorite.

Young is a place holder.
LOL wut. A placeholder for who exactly?
And Bryce won't win the Heisman, but he's been really good in a pretty tough spot given roster and OC turnover plus getting hit every other snap.

I'm not sure I have one, but that's not the premise of the question.
Media seems to act like these are the only two worth talking about. (Well, to be fair, it seems more like the oddsmakers, but I would posit that a lot of that is coming from the media hype and people betting on its effect on voting.)
Like a poster above said, the Coastal Carolina kid is putting up stupid numbers in a couple of categories. He's not in others, but if you have Troy Aikman running the wishbone, there is only so much you are going to see of his arm. Doesn't mean I think he is getting screwed, but I don't even hear him talked about.
The QB at Virginia has some impressive numbers (leads Corral by 50 yards/game), and he has Virginia at 5-2, with the only losses so far being to an undefeated Wake Forest and a schizophrenic UNC. He's almost all passing, though.
I could see a good case for Matt Corral. Young, not so much. I just think it's become too narrow a race for this stage of the season, and hype is becoming more enabling than performance.

I don't know what else Corral has to do to get the title "game-changer."
All 3 of those QB's beat Alabama when they won it.
Zack Calzada?

Bama has no depth at qb .Without Young they would be in trouble.

I'm not big on hypotheticals but if Corral is Bama's starting QB they don't lose that game to aTm.

Evidently you haven't seen much of Alabama's 2 backups.
Actually, neither have Alabama fans. There is probably a good reason for that.
And yes, all the more reason to get the backup more playing time, but you should email Nick Saban about that.

Against TCU last Saturday.
18-23 for 295 yards. 4TD's 0 Int. 243.4 Rating. Also had 9 rushing attempts for 66 yards. 7.3 yard avg. I have seen a lot of good QB's at OU and he has a chance to be top 3. He's pretty ridiculous.

Hmm. Seems like Evans went up high to bail out Manziel on lob passes more than a few times.

Corral is very deserving of consideration.

The fact that Coral is even going to be invited to NYC tells you how historically weak this year's field is.
Young, while not on par with most Heisman winners, plays QB for Alabama. So I can at least understand the why, even if I don't agree with it.
Jordan Davis should be the runaway favorite, but he plays a position that can't pile up gaudy stats. But, take him off Georgia's DL and they suddenly wouldn't be so dominant.

Evans had less than 1/3 of Manziel's passing yards, and Manziel had a completion percentage of 68%.
Manziel also led the SEC in rushing.
Evans was a beast, but this narrative that he earned Johnny's Heisman by grabbing jump balls is just silly.
