The worry isn't losing Pittman. It's whether he can continue to hire top shelf assistant coaches. He isn't going to be calling plays anytime soon.

As an LSU fan, I never want to go back to the CEO coaching model.

Since Frank Broyles retired, the only coach I remember leaving on their own for another job was Ken Hatfield because he was catching grief over his flex bone offense.

The rest have been fired or run off.

We aren't a stepping stone school. That's one good reason not to hire a coach like Kiffin, he has happy feet.

Sam is home.

He's stated in multiple interviews, he grew up 80 miles from Fayetteville. He loves the school. He also just built a new lake house in Hot Springs, AR. After he's done here, he is retiring there.

I don’t believe Pittman would leave Arky.

They gave him the opportunity he has wanted for a long time, a head football coach. I believe as long as the program is competitive he remain at Arky.

Everyone answered your question. Unless they fire him. He will be there. I’m a big fan of Sam Pittman. And wish him success but hope the Dawgs beat their arse Saturday

Ever heard the expression “like a pig in slop”?

And I mean that as a compliment.

Why is Arkansas competitive again?

Because the man has invested his sum total of all he is or ever will be into the school and program most loved by his heart

When Arkansas took a chance on a position coach and trusted him with keys to the company. He must of really sold them on his passion, determination and resolve to revive a once proud program.

This is why he wouldn't leave U of AR for anyone else. He's committed to them and vice-versa.

Who doesn't love the guy?

Pittman already had a retirement home in Hot Springs, and just recently sold it and bought a bigger one there.
He's not going anywhere except to the lake, most likely.

I do not think he will leave. One, he really likes the job and the area. Two, he's no spring chicken.

The Pittboss is 59 and he doesn't strike me as the type to keep coaching until they wheel him into the stadium on life support sort of guy.

He likes being noticed and people loving him, as he said "who doesn't", and he has that in spades at Arkansas. He can retire here, live in Hot Springs, and come up to visit the program and campus easily. Don't forget, despite all the acrimony involved in his falling out with Frank Broyles, Nolan Richardson kept his home in the area and is, last I heard, happily retired there. Its a nice place to retire.

He is a fairly eloquent and funny guy, I could see him doing the whole SEC network thing for giggles.

Seems any time a coach begins to have success at a school that is not named Alabama, speculation starts as to where he will end up next.

He's not going anywhere.

Although repeatedly mentioned, I don't think the lake house makes it a certainty. People buy and sell those all the time. I've done it myself. Hell, even Pitt has done so; but granted in the same state.

No the reason he won't leave is if he continues to have success he will be hailed as a hero in Arkansas for reviving a moribund program. Again, it's early but if the trajectory continues where is he likely to go? He isn't going to go to another broken program to revive it he'll have done that already. His other option would be to go to a traditionally stronger program where he can at best maintain or slightly improve or worse fail.

He's making a decent amount of money where he is. Factor in his age and I think Arky can count on him as long as they like.
