How short is his leash at the moment?

Just two years removed from not just the pinnacle of his coaching career but also LSU’s program history, how many losses will LSU grant him before deciding to cut ties? 5? 6? 7 or more?

How many wins does he need to keep his job this season?

Conversely, if he manages to beat Bama, is there any amount of losses that would get him the axe?

7-5 and his seat gets really hot. But he could go 1-11 if the one W was against Bama

If he has a 5 loss season this year that seat is hot as shite.

If he has a losing season this year he may get canned.

I don’t think any of those things happen and I think LSU wins somewhere between 9 and 12 regular season games.

If this happens I believe hes gone. His seat is already pretty warm just with how last year went.

I've heard some fans say 8-4 gets him fired, I don't think the leash is necessarily that short.

I'd assume 6-6 is probably the magic number.

If I had to guess 7-5/8-4 gets him on the hot seat for 2022.

6-6 or worse gets him canned immediately.

If O gets canned, who would y’all want. What are a few names you’d be interested in?

Inb4 Joe Brady

EDIT: that’s basically what Auburn did with Chizik/Malzahn

He signed his deal after the title last year
With finances the way they are due to pandemic I really don't see him being let go anytime soon
I think the ceiling for this team is probably 10 wins and 8 would be on the low end
With a normal offseason and a packed stadium you will see a much better product on the field
The rest of the SEC really needs to be worried whenever Woodward makes that next football hire
Shelf life of a coach these days I would say O has another 5-7 years here.

He's definitely on the hot seat if they have a bad season this year but I don't see LSU firing him after this season unless it's BAD.

I don't either and it would not only have to be a really bad record, there would have to be some major coaching screw ups in multiple games.

Would hope so. He's had a full year to fix his boneheaded mistakes.

Not even interviewing Pelini?

If he didn't have a win by the Bama game, he woudldn't be coaching that game.

Doesn’t want to be a college coach and will probably be an NFL HC in ‘22.

Billy Napier and Matt Campbell would probably be at the top of the list.

Lane Kiffin
Billy Napier
Matt Campbell

The usual suspects

Or some massive off the field issue + a losing season. Some combination of some really bad things. Now if LSU struggles again, 2022 might be the end of O but we'll see

So why don't any of the excuses and asterisks that LSU fans like to toss around about last season apply to ol' Ed?

These posts remind me of all the talk after the loss to Troy. Coach O has his weak points, but he seems to overcome them. If LSU stays healthy, there won't be any talk of short leashes pretty soon. The D line is going to absolutely wreck people.

We have seen meh teams with a great dline be pretty damn solid- see Auburn 2019. This LSU team has a lot more talent all around than that auburn team though. LSU is a weird team this year, I could see them going 7-5 but I could also see them going 10-2.

Which I guess makes sense because Vegas win total is 8.5. Who knows.
