I think he’s absolutely the best coordinator in the league.

Look how piss poor A&Ms offense snd QB play have been, with any support on that side of the ball they’d be a real contender

The spread or pro-set? The HUNH spread attack was handled about as well as anyone could do it year after year with Kevin Steele. He's gone and I thought what Barry Odom did with his group was so impressive. Walkons were on the field on D and he was giving much better talent fits with his variation of the zone and matchups. I betcha Kiffin and Matt Corral remember him just fine.

I'd go with him being in the 7-9 range

Not necessarily the "best," but State's Zach Arnett put together a pretty respectable defense last year with 1/4 as much talent as the Georgias and Alabamas of the world.

Considering what he did with what he had to work with, it's hard to argue against Zach Arnett.

It's odd that he didn't even seem to get an offer after all the interviews he went on.

I thought he'd be gone for sure.

If he was, he wouldn't be at such a crappy school. He'd probably be employed by a program with a championship more recent than 1939.

That's a shiny hook you got there. But he'd be the DC at LSU today if your football program was anything more than a dumpster fire.

Could probably throw UK’s Brad White in the convo. There’s been virtually no big drop off from Matt House leaving for the Chiefs.

So Kirby was never DC at Bama, according to Bama fans when he left, now he’s the eternal DC at UGA?

Seems like he shits his pants every time Alabama steps on the field to me.

I mean he interviewed at 5 or so schools and didn't get an offer from any of them, seems that has more to do with Arnett than LSU.

LSU’s Daronte Jones

Yep, it will be fitting for 0’s 6th choice to be better than the DC who had them better in preseason 2020 than they were at any time in 2019. I mean, the DC from 2020 was so good, and it was evident from how they were so good in preseason until COVID took its toll, that man didn’t even need to interview.

Well he’s never been a defensive coordinator but he believes he can do it!
Mr. Jones was actually a DC over 10 years ago at some little podunk Div.2 school for a few years, but isn't qualified to be a DC in the SEC.

Coaching DB's in the NFL is not the same as Coordinating a Defense in the toughest Division in College Football. Nobody in the NFL or College Football was after him to be their Defensive Coordinator either.

Weak Weak Woke hire.

Look on the bright side, if it doesn't work out and the Defense sucks again in 2021, Woodward will be making a call to the Lafayette Area Code as soon as the season ends. (If the Junior College that's located there has another Top 20 season)
