Personally I'm all for it. If he sucks, you can't play 13 guys anyway and he's back in the portal. If he looks like a 5* we get a good player and break Auburn basketball. Not much downside as it stands. Now, if Sears ends up staying in the draft I may be a little less optimistic because it'll be harder to hide him if he's just a bust.

That's my thoughts to it. Worst case scenario, he's in the portal next year.

So at this point we’re looking at:

1: Sears/Holloway
2: Wrightsell/Youngblood/Mallette
3: Reid/Cunningham
4: Nelson/Stevenson/Dioubate
5: Omoruyi?/Sherrell/Wague

What other attrition are we looking at? Sears and Nelson potentially pro? I don’t see how we hang on to both Nelson and Stevenson.

I kinda get the impression that Nelson is going to the highest bidder if he comes back based on his comments after the UConn game. He wouldn't commit to an either/or between the draft and Alabama. Just said "hopefully" it's Alabama if he does do another year of college ball, which is code for "if the price is right" in this NIL and portal era of university branded AAU ball.

That's going to be a difficult choice for Oats if it comes to it too. I think Stevenson has a lot more upside, but if you're in win now mode upside isn't nearly as appealing. Honestly though, I think I still might lean that way. He's got the length, outside shooting potential, and general athleticism for a breakout season next year. He's close, and I think it clicks over the summer.

Has Stevenson put his name in the draft to get feed back yet?

The tweet the basketball team just put out makes me think Nelson is coming back unless I’m just reading it completely wrong.

I think it’s more like we just dunked on Auburn but guess we will see.

This isn’t about Grant Nelson, per source. Would assume it’s about Aden.

That’d be a huge whiff by Gonzo then because why post something only showing Sears and Nelson? If you want a dunking on Auburn tweet, do one of Miller from last year or Herb from a couple years ago

Who said that?

Nvm I see who it was now. I doubt he would know fwiw. He said Holloway was committing yesterday and was wrong about that.

It's pretty obviously not about Nelson. It's just about the commitment.

Yeah what better and more obvious way to celebrate a Aden Holloway commitment than with a gif of Sears and Nelson playing vs Uconn.

Breaking news about Halloway and they make a post mentioning "mood" with the best dunk of the year.

Believe what you want.

Sears and Nelson may come back, but that's not what that tweet was about.

Do we know for sure that he didn't actually commit yesterday?

I mean the video starts with Sears even though it doesn’t really have to, hangs with Nelson, and then makes a point to end with Sears

I have absolutely no info but coming to that conclusion isn’t exactly a tinfoil take

Sad to see him go but it wasn't working out at Auburn. We weren't devastated about him going to the portal. Always weird to leave for a rival though

His comments about leaving because the AU offense went a different direction were kind of weird though. Holloway was second on team in shotattempt% despite shooting some 30%. His role diminished because he wasn't performing, he was arguably given too many opportunities

At AU I think his struggles were common freshmen things. He should develop into a very solid starting PG with upside to be much, much more.

Yeah, I didn't love his comments on that. Thank your former team and move on, no matter how you feel.

I think he can be good at Bama, but I don't want to keep getting short guys, even if Sears is one of my all time favorite Bama players.

Rylan Griffen has said some really weird, out of left field, stuff since entering the portal.

He who wasn’t a dumbass at 19 step forward

I've always wondered if Rylan is autistic.
